You are overreacting. 40 years should have hardened you better than this.

LOL! The fact you made it through the Lowe/MacT years shows you can put up with anything.

Im fine with the moves made to this point. Sure some have been worse than others, but as I type this, do I think the Oilers going on the ice in the next season are better? I do. Time will tell if I am right or not, but the game is played on the ice, not on twitter or anywhere else. I am willing to see what they can do once they hit the ice.

Remember how the Toronto Maples Leafs gave up the 6th most goals per game in the NHL during the 2019/20 NHL season?

Now Ken Holland is paying the top 2 right shot dmen from that season $7.75M per season for the next 3 years to be the top 2 right shot dmen on his team.

Ken Holland, ""I believe that we're deeper on the back end and on the front end. We're bigger with skill. I feel pretty good today, but still exploring." -Holland on the roster as of today"

Let's review that first part of the statement where he believe the Oilers are deeper on the blue line.

Last year Bouchard was not good enough to play and this year he is their best right shot dman by a long ways. Seems like they are much deeper on the right side. Let's check out the left side, last year they had Nurse, Jones, Russell, Koekkoek, Lagesson. This year they have Nurse, 38 year old Duncan Keith, a year older Kris Russell and William Lagesson.

It's official, Ken Holland has completely lost his mind.

I would safely argue 38yr old Duncan Keith is better than Jones or Koekkoek. maybe even if Jones & Koekkoek played together on the left side with a right D.

    Keith >>>>>>>>> Jones/Koekkoek.

Not sure that even needed to be written out did it?

Love everything the Oilers have done today outside of signing Ryan.

Signed, someone who hasn't watched Keith play in 3 years.

They probably watched the Blackhawks "dominate" the Oilers in the play in round 2 seasons ago. You know the one where Mike Smith let in 5 goals on 23 shots and Mikko Koskinen let in 11 goals on 99 shots and the Oilers lost in 4 games.

Both of those goalies are now 2 years older and are still the only 2 goalies on the Oilers depth chart.

Nice! I like this signing. Koekkoek was a good Dman for the Oilers early last season before he got hurt. Not sure I understand the 2nd year on the deal but good to have him back. Apparently its for $925K cap hit.

The #Oilers have signed defenceman Slater Koekkoek to a two-year contract extension.

You can bury like $900k in the minors, so the 2nd yr is a good gamble he'll be worth an NHL roster spot, but if he's not it'll only cost the cap $25,000.

I'm going to go under the impression that's what these 2yr, low cap hit deals are for this yr. GMs are taking a good gamble where you either get an NHLer for worth more than $925k for next yr, or you lose $25,000 in space.

They can bury the full contract and not have it affect the cap if I am not mistaken. I believe the amount teams can bury is somewhere around $1.1M, give or take a thousand or two. I thought it was something like the league minimum plus $300k or something like that.
