As I predicted after Jacques Martin was fired, Michel Therrien is the new head coach.

I wouldn't mind that, but above all else they have to win hockey games and move out the scrap parts.

They should go hard after Chris Stewart. He's gonna revitalize his career this year and some team is gonna benefit big. Although, does therrien play more of a defensive style?

In a buy-low situation I like the move, but I hope they don't do it hoping to acquire a front line star player. Stewart definitely falls in the category of a Rene Bourque (lazy power forward) which can be as disheartening to watch as it gets. He would definitely add a nice scoring touch though.

Absolutely, but I think he'd be available for a fair price with the additions St. Louis brought in. I like him a lot better than Bourque but if he ends up being the same that would be troubling.

Funny, I was daydreaming of Stewart before logging in. Don't really know what the issue is with him, but maybe a short-term deal could help the him stay hungry.

Still, after ridding themselves of AK, I don't really want them bringing over another guy with the similar issues.

Not surprised in Cunneyworth's case. I would have left that place immediately if I was treated the way he was. I am surprised to see Ladouceur go though, given that he was doing good work with PK Subban.

Habs have been busy filling out their front office, including hiring Gerard Gallant as an assistant coach. Gallant was a guy that some felt should have received more consideration for the head coaching gig.

A bit of an under-the-radar signing here as the Habs inked prospect Steve Quailer. He is a late bloomer after losing the 2010 season to injury but was good last season scoring 25 points in 26 games in college. Power forward upside here. If the team can master the aspect of player development and not sour on young players at the first sign of trouble, he could be a good find. What I don't want to see is him buried on the fourth line and traded because of lack of production.

I'm sure Beaulieu is happy to see that hiring.

Is there any substance to the Kovalev wants to return to the Habs rumor?
