Habs have so many forwards now. Way too many. Some highly-paid healthy scratches and no room to promote anyone else aside from Slafkovsky.

LW: Hoffman, Drouin, Slafkovsky, Pitlick, Byron
C: Suzuki, Dvorak, Dach, Evans, Monahan
RW: Caufield, Anderson, Dadonov, Gallagher, Armia

Others in the mix: Pezzetta, Ylonen

    Some possibilities

Byron and/or Drouin and/or Monahan and/or someone else starts the year on IR. This team is notorious for having lots of misleading injury news. Maybe there's a reason for having all these forwards on the roster.
A trade is coming. I'd like to see multiple forwards moved to make room for a newcomer if they distinguish themselves. They need some bodies on D so swapping a forward would be good.

Yeah but im liking the D and G situation to stay largely as is, allow young D guys to develop and pretty much guarantees that we finish bottom 5 for 2023 draft position despite what I think will be a relatively good offense.

Nick Suzuki named new captain in Montreal. Fascinating loop that he was the centrepiece of the former captain Pacioretty trade.

I believe that the Habs locking him at under 8 for 8 years will prove to be an excellent decision.

I love it! Would've been OK with Gallagher but very happy it's Suzuki. Habs rebuild looking good so far.

Big target on his back for the MTL media. Captaincy "only" means stuff to the media and fans. I can't think a letter makes Suzuki's words and leadership mean more or less to the other guys on the team. I think it's premature, but it is the guy who would get it eventually. So I can't say it was the wrong choice, but it is earlier than I would make it. However, I'm not a big believer that a young team needs a captain as much as others.

He was offered it around the draft and took months to accept it.

While logical, I didnt think it would be this season. Gaining the captaincy is an extra responsibility mentally and in a hockey mad market like the habs it can be a burden which may eventually lead to a slight dip in fantasy production
One day I will quit fantasy hockey, today is not that day.

Quick question to the Habs fans here, what do you think your blue line will look like? Is Wideman a top 2 guy here? Just wondering, I saw some posts about the F, just curious to see the projected back line.

    Montreal's D Lines:
    Edmundson - Savard
    Matheson - Barron
    Harris - Wideman

Just a guess. That right side is pretty weak so Wideman can jump up pretty easily I think. But it's also a good way to protect the younger guys in Barron and Harris by pairing them with Wideman and Matheson.
