So the Habs open the season on the road yet again this year. For the life of me I can't remember the last time the NHL's most storied franchise opened the season at home. I mean really, would it kill the schedule-maker to have them open the NHL season at home, against an original franchise?? Would it be so much?

Every season it's on the road... Does anyone know the last time they opened the NHL season at home?

Remember when everyone lost their mind that we only offered Aho 8.25?

Outside of Rants and Marner it's on the higher side compared to the others recent contracts.

    Laine - 6.75
    Connor - 7.15

Also, Aho accepted this "ridiculous" offer.

Yeah it takes two to sign a contract. Yet the media plays it for clicks and a lot of people jumped on half a story.

He’s the only centre of the bunch though. I thought the dollar amount was ok but you weren’t gonna steal him away with that.

Correct. It was and is a reasonable contract which is why it was a rather half hearted offer sheet. If you’re going to offer sheet someone, I think the strategy has been to put the team that owns the player’s rights in a tough spot in the hopes that they do not or can not match. Bergevin did not do that. He simply helped Aho get a decent contract. Very cricket of him to do but not really an aggressive attempt to end up with the player.

Anyways, doesn't really matter at this point, I just thought showing the comparable forwards was interesting.
We could go back and forth all day whether it was a reasonable offer or not.

    Fun facts about tonight's game.

Hayden Fleury will be facing off against his brother Cale Fleury.
Some day we may see a Ryan Suzuki VS Nick Suzuki situation.

It is interesting. Everyone did pretty well except the Habs. They just came out looking a little silly. Every RFA in the future should sign a reasonable offer sheet like this. Negotiations over. 99.9% of the time the team will match and everyone moves on. Agents should be offering a small % of the cut to GMs for proffering said offer sheet. Maybe that’s what’s funding MB’s snazzy wardrobe this year...

I think you're both forgetting B. Point is the #1C for TB.

My correct is corrected! You are right and so is Eric. He’s almost more of an outlier than Marner.
