Capfriendly has $4M in cap space with a 25-man roster. Has to be 23 or less. So it could be an extra $2-3 million in space.

Weiss, Peca, Cousins, Hudon, and maybe Folin or Reilly could be AHL bound? All would have to clear waivers I think. Hudon deserves a fresh start somewhere. He needs a trade. One more pick in 2020?

If I’m Bergevin I’m trying to shop Drouin and a D prospect aggressively and get some good picks back so I can offer sheet Laine. But that isn’t going to happen.

Laine and Caufield on the same team could be silly.

If I were a betting man I'd say Bergevin gives him the Plekanec style treatment.

Markov get his 10 games, then he's put on undconditional waivers and retires off into the wild.

I imagine he gets a PTO somewhere... Gotta think he's a better option then Beaulieu in Wpg

I'd rather not because having Markov means putting someone else on waivers at the end of camp. I'd rather keep the longer-term depth bodies. If they decide to keep Markov around for the year then that's another story.

Totally agree, not saying that's what I'd want either.

I can just see Molson & Bergevin doing for the PR.

Shit, between this and the Aho thing... the Habs don’t need PR. They’re the Habs. They sell out constantly and have a huuuuge following. They need to win on the ice, not in the media...

And also for the record I loved Markov and he gave his soul to this team. If he can help despite his age, sign this guy right now. Probably good for the room too. Min salary. He’d do it.

I agree - yes the team gets plenty of press but this would just be a class move. There are so many bottom 6 forwards that sending one more of them down (who is claiming Dale Wiese or Nate Thompson from waivers??) to get Markov some games/retire as a Hab would be awesome. He may even be better and more effective than a couple of our D options. I say they should bring him back.

Fantrax projections are garbage. It that is especially weak.

A couple guys who stood out on my roster as well were Niederreiter at 45 points and Ehlers at 49, both over 82 games. Most goalies are given stats which are far less than reasonable as well
