Maybe, but not necessarily. Teams regularly waive/demote players after camp and use them as depth. Even one-way contracts.

Peca, Alzner, Deslauries and Weise can easily all head down to Laval.

Agreed. Though I feel like they could get a return for some guys like Peca that are on the fringe.

I doubt Peca fetches anything on the trade market. Better to take a chance demoting him and keep him as a vet with experience in case something happens on the main roster.

    I'd try Goldobin in Van.

If I'm the Canucks GM and I get a Peca for Goldobin offer, I ask for Bergevin's pusher because he's high as a kite.

I think Philly wanted at least poehling and maybe even Romanov for ghost and Montreal wanted no part and so neither did Philly.

Lots of hype around Caulfield right now in the media. Do we all agree he's probably better playing in Wisconsin next year? Or do we really hope he impresses enough in the next few days that he earns a place with the team?

I highly doubt he's on the team right away. There's already too many bodies in the mix.

Agree. Even Poehling and Suzuki will most probably be in Laval to start the season.

No one earns a roster spot in a development camp. he's not even playing with most of their AHL camp invites. It's here and rookie camp that kids earn an invite to the main camp.

Based on his size... I fully expect him to be a one and done in NCAA. Pretty sure all but Hughes committed to NCAA for this coming season.
Interesting to see who, if any others change their minds.

I really hope that he will play one year in the NCAA for his development and also for the Habs lineup.

If Suzuki and Poehling hava a nice camp, the Montreal Canadiens lineup for 2019-2020 could be :

    Tatar - Danault - Gallagher
    Drouin - Kotkaniemi - Domi
    Lehkonen - Suzuki - Armia
    Byron - Poehling - Shaw

No need for Caufield this season (imagine if Duchene signs with MTL)
10 Keepers Salary Cap League (96,025,000M Cap - Players CAP-HIT)
    8 Teams / 12 FW, 6 D, 1G, 4 Scratches
    +6 ELC contracts (farm)

    F: 1xG + 1xA
    D: 2xG + 1xA
    G: 2xW + 1xOTL + 1xSO

F: Hintz, J. Hughes, Schmaltz, Zacha, Hyman, Novak, Hartman, Stamkos, Knies, Marchessault, Konecny, Monahan,
D: Heiskanen, Andersson, Sergachev, Mintyukov, Addison, Guhle

    G: Shesterkin

    Scratch : Dach, Wheeler, Eklund,
    Lundkvist
FARM : Edvinsson, Stankoven, Kulich, Musty, Leonard, Hutson

I’m hoping they trade Drouin. Friedman mentioned a rumored potential deal to Colorado involving Barrie. That would be fine with me. And there’s no way in hell Julien enters the season with three kids at center. I think Suzuki has a good shot to make the roster but that’s it as far as new centers go. I’m very excited to see where the D ends up to start this year. Fingers crossed that Benn gets a nice deal...on another team.

Centers usually transition to the wing quite easily. Domi and Suzuki could both do it just fine, and I'm sure Poehling could also do it. Depth is never a bad thing. Neither is versatility.

Really hoping the Habs don't overpay for Hutton thinking he's a solution at LHD
