I was hoping Knight would fall to the Habs but this calibre a player has to be considered a win for the first round at 15. Not bad.

Pretty happy with CC as well. It's been such a knock on the Habs drafting small guys all the time (though that hasn't been the case for a few years now, really) but the game has changed enough that smaller guys with higher skill levels can thrive in the league.

It’s great to see need and best player available (clearly) line up like that. Nice pick.

Guy Carbonneau is being inducted into the hockey hall of fame

    I'm surprised by this one...

No thanks on Simmonds, though it would be a Bergevin-like move to sign him hoping he has something left.

I’d say I’m pleasantly surprised. I grew up watching Carbo and I don’t think there was anyone better at what he did. As good as a Mark Recchi was, for example, there’s no doubt in my mind that Carbonneau was a more valuable player to his team during his prime.

If they ever go deep in the playoffs there will be no shortage of extra bodies to throw out there when injuries hit

You guys already have 20 one-way contracts signed for next year, plus the ELCs for Mete, Kotka, Poehling, Juulsen, Suzuki, etc
And RFAs Hudon, Lehkonen, and Armia.

Think there's a trade or two coming? I think there will be.
