Didn’t watch the game - watching the highlights my main thought was “WHAT THE HELL IS BENN DOING ON THE ICE DURING OVERTIME!??!??!!”

Are you kidding me? When speed and skill matter more than ever and you send Benn out there? I don’t care if they were short. Benn/Petry were on for every goal the Sabres scored tonight. They deserve to lose with coaching decisions like that. F’ing disgraceful.

If you have an Athletic subscription...good article here that shows how bad the Benn/Petry pairing has been for the Habs. I don’t get why the coaching staff doesn’t do this sort of simple analysis. We’ll see what the pairings look like tonight....

It's not a big move but it's an important one. The team is assigning role based on merit, not based on veteran status or contract.

Agreed. I’d be cool with Mete and Petry as well. Please scratch Benn. I’m so tired of seeing 8 standing around the goal after the other team scores...

I think Benn is ok on the 3rd pair, when he's not asked to do too much. I prefer Schlemko's skating though. For me:

Reilly-Petry
Schlemko-Juulsen
