Interesting tracking McCarron and de la Rose this year. One managed to carve out a permanent role and will be one of the centers on next year's team. The other seems lost when he isn't picking a fight.

Yeah - McCaron doesn't have NHL wheels. He's a perfect example of the incompetent management of this team. He was drafted as a reaction to ONE PLAYOFF SERIES!!!! Seriously. I know the draft is a crap shoot, but looking down the board I see names like Hartman, Theodore, Buchenevich, Bjorkstrand, and Pesce who were taken later or much later. Sure, keep the management team in place!! I mean look at the Oilers...it could be worse!!!

McCarron looked very good for a while. He was mishandled once he hit the NHL and wasn't an overnight savior. They messed with his development. Not sure if he would have panned out either way but management gave him the worst odds of success.

Fortunately he's really the only player whose development they've screwed up...
    Right?

Scherbeck does look great. Lehkonen is going to be a very good player for years to come. And Tavares is here next year...

I have no issue with this. He needs to re-experience playing behind a competent team.

They could potentially have a pretty good squad too.. You are right though, he needs to remember what it feels like to win.. He has been a different player since becoming a father, life has changed forever.. It does for us all!!

You could sound like a broken record if you were talking about the Habs and their miffed development of so many of their prospects... I also happen to think their scouting is bringing in the wrong players... missing on their projections for long-term success.

I think I sound like a broken record when I say the pro development team needs a complete overhaul.

Niemi has been nominated for the Masterton trophy. Well deserved after he was basically left for dead in November.

Mike Reilly has been a pleasant surprise (7 pts in 15 games) and offers a bit of hope for next year. I don't think he gets huge point totals long-term but at least he seems to be a competent LHD who can eat up some minutes.
