So what about the new guy? Tall center, played decent as the youngest player in college hockey...

They're always promising at the draft... in theory he can be good, but we all know how good the habs are at drafting....

I always feel like they draft well on draft day and the prospects stagnate after turning pro.

IMO, he has NHL written all over him, but a 3rd line center at best. I don't know if he has the scoring upside to get him into the top six. Time will tell.

That seems very lateral, at best.

I don't get how Tolvanen slipped past the 25th... imo it will haunt them.

As Axe said, I see Poehling as a 3rd liner. Tolvanen on the other side could be a flashy top-6 player (aka something they desperately lack)

I recall the Bruins taking a ton of heat last year over the Trent Frederic pick. The GM labeled him as a future 3rd liner and everyone freaked out. One year later the guy looks like he has more in him than just being a 3rd liner...

Looking more into it I don't mind the pick at 25. Scoring upside is TBD but at least he has qualities that will land him in the NHL.

He's a better Centre than Chucky. Esp. on F/O's so there's that.

    Yes. Yes. So, yes.

I think I have mentioned it ad nauseum that the pro development with the Habs is what is truly broken.

Seems like an OK pick, but I worry of the Kyle Chipchura syndrome with this guy.. though he seems to have better physical tools... To think we could have had Shea Theodore over McCarron..... oy..... Now this guy over Tolvanen... Time will tell I guess...

What are the chances that we see one of (or both) Yakupov/Grigorenko wearing the Bleu Blanc Rouge next year?

For me, I think they will be gunning for Yakupov and hope that both he and Galchenyuk can find their ''fire'' once again. Grigorenko would be a good consolation prize if the price is right. Both players are still young and I feel that they need to be in the right environment to find their next gear. I doubt either player will ever reach their full potential at this point but I'm sure that they're better than what they've shown until now.

I could see them trying but I don't see either of them having any success over the long haul.

As mentioned in the other thread, I'd like them to take a flier on Morrow personally.

Haven't seen much of Grigorenko, but maybe that'd be interesting too. Decent sized center, could be an interesting a reclamation project.

Problem is, I don't think Montreal is the right environment. Lots of extra pressure there.
