Once the regular season ends they can do whatever they want. They can also burry some $$ on the taxi squad by waiving Byron again.

I do believe once Price is healthy, they can send down Primeau, Ouellette and someone else and bring in Caufield.

Oh look Ouellette sent to the taxi squad and Chairot activated. They have 6 players on their taxi squad now (allowed 4-6 players on taxi squad)

Short? I kid, but I would like to know as well! I'm hoping he does well, always cheer for the shorter players!

He looked good. He looked fast - took 4 shots, hit one post, none too dangerous - trying low angle stuff. They had him set up as the trigger man on PP1 in that Ovechkin/Laine spot near the top of the right circle. He skated with Tatar and Danault at even strength. 15:40 TOI. He was conspicuous in the jump in his step. The rest of the team is tired and it shows. He was one of the better players in the game and not at all out of place. His speed got him in on some nice forechecks. All in all a nice game.

    He didn't score. Bust!

    LOL!

Seriously though, he showed some good bursts but he was mainly kept to the outside so nothing dangerous from him. NHL goalies will take those shots all day long.

Drouin to LTIR for what sounds like mental health issues. Indefinite leave of absence. Bummer. Now they have the cap space for Caufield and Romanov.
Tatar can't go so Frolik draws in.
Romanov is back as well (this I believe is indeed their final regular call up).
Frolik is an emergency call up for Tatar.
Looking forward to see what Suzuki and Caufield might do.

Lines and D pairings from the morning skate...

    Lehkonen - Danault - Anderson
    Toffoli - Suzuki - Caufield
    Perry - Kotkaniemi - Armia
    Frolik - Staal - Evans

    Chiarot - Weber
    Edmundson - Petry
    Romanov - Merrill

I dont wish any ill-will to Drouin, but this is convenient timing for his LTIR situation, considering the crappy season he's having and the Habs not able to have both Caufield and Romanov up due to cap restraints. This move to recall Romanov does use up their last roster move for this season.

Good luck to Drouin, and well done by Habs management to use the LTIR rules to their advantage like others have done this year to improve their roster.

It's only fishy if he comes back right at the start of the playoffs. Hasn't played since April 23rd, so he can come back from LTIR prior to the end of the season.

Hope all ends well with him though

I dont think they are going to miss Drouin and his 2 goals so far this year all that much. Not sure he's much of a help for them come playoff time even if he does return.

Yeah if it's anything like the Bobby Ryan situation, he's mentally and physically better at taking the yr off. His VERY limited MNTC (3-team no trade list) kicks in this summer, so it's not impossible for him to get moved.

But he's done for the yr I think. If it's anything drugs/alcohol related he should be separating himself from the wrong people in MTL. Maybe it's a death in the family, maybe it's something like depression through COVID, we don't know so tough to say.

But hopefully Drouin comes out ahead of this.
