Price is playing unreal hockey. The tough saves look easy because he's already in position.

The "code" is as real as the tooth fairy yet grown adults (players and fans) still choose to believe in something that doesn't exist.

Seriously. The Canadiens just got demonstrably worse at a critical point in the season - and for what? This is such a stark example of how incredibly stupid this crap is. Yes, the Habs making the playoffs is gravy this season. It’ll still be fun and some great experience for the young guys to get some post season games under their belts. It’s less likely now because Byron got knocked silly by some no talent ass clown.

Byron accepted the fight without hesitation. That's on him for being dumb.

He wasn’t being dumb he was standing up for himself and giving Weegar the chance to get even cleanly rather than be elbowed in the head by Weegar at some other point in the game if he ducked him. This way he could see it coming and chose to control his destiny. Weegar doesn’t care about being suspended but cares about revenge. I have no problem with it. Sucks he got hurt but then again it sucked for Weegar just as much when he took a hit to the head. Eye for an eye. That’s fine with me in the confines of hockey or sports generally.

Don’t tell me you expect sport, and a contact sport no less, to abide by the same rules that society at large should. I’m a pacifist, but also a realist. Weegar would have gotten even one way or another. This way, while the outcome was very regrettable, at least Byron could somewhat control it. Otherwise I would have fully expected Weegar to get even in some dirty fashion and eat the suspension. Florida has nothing to play for and Montreal has everything to play for. I don’t doubt for one second that’s what would have happened.

That was a weird game. Hot start, got the early lead and then the team shut down. Even Price looked like he had given up when the game was still within reach.

I wonder if the team would have been a little better off with Byron in the lineup instead of Deslauriers. The game pretty much turned on that shit show of a line change in the 2nd. It’s simply not the sort of thing a playoff bound team does. Hell my kids in bantam know better than to let that happen let alone an NHL team in their biggest game of the season. The Habs can’t get out of their own way. They are their own worst enemy. Weber was slow and stared a change early and was way out of position on the Nash goal. The Panarin goal was just a superb play but both Weber and Danault were not making any attempt the get in the lanes or mark Panarin. Bleh. Just a crap effort tonight. Tough 4 games left. My gut feeling is they won’t make it at this point. If they do get in it’ll be more likely they catch Carolina at this point....
