I know we've been down this path about having too many forwards on the main roster but... does Bergevin put in a claim for Devante Smith-Pelly? I'm thinking no but with his history and bargain AAV I can't see him going unclaimed.

Lots of speculation on the twitter-verse and from media outlets.

Doug Macclean saying Habs are in on Duchene
I see this just as fuel to the media trade centre fire, but hey if he re-signs and it doesn't cost as a fortune I would love it.
    Poheling, Hudon & 2nd for Duchene @ 7 years ~8 million?

Couple insiders saying Habs are in on Burakovsky
This might make sense....with DSP on waivers maybe we see WAS make a couple moves to bring in a bigger name/contract?
DSP makes 1 million and Burakovksy makes 4 million.

Going to be a couple interesting days or an absolute let down....like every year

Fuel to the media trade centre fire... just like the Panthers trading Huberdeau for Panarin + Bobrovsky instead of waiting till summer time when they'll be UFAs

If Bergevin mortgages the future (Poheling) for someone like Duchene he’s a moron. We don’t need Duchene on some albatross of a contract 3 years from now when we’re in the window when all these young players hit their strides. That would be one of the stupidest trades I’ve ever heard of.

I thought that but I wonder if the Dale Weise pickup nullifies the chances of that.

There are rumblings of DSP getting traded to LA. The Habs certainly don’t need him. And yes, those pieces of the future for Duchene would be more stupid than Weber for PK. But it’s close.

Edit: looks like the Kings just traded Hagelin to the Caps who we’re probably hoping to make DSP part of the deal but sent two picks instead.

Don’t know of you guys read the Gazette but I don’t get why they employ Brendan Kelly. Perhaps to help make all the other writers look better. The guy is an idiot. Seriously. I think he must sit and think “what’s the stupidest thing I could possibly say about the Habs today” when he come up with his columns. It makes the paper look bad.

    Jordan Weal for Chaput.

    Аrpon Basu
Jordan Weal won nearly 60 percent of his faceoffs (166 won, 122 lost) while with the Flyers, a number that dropped to 49 percent (81 won, 84 lost) with the Coyotes this season. Still, a righty who can take draws to perhaps pair with lefty Nate Thompson on 4th line.

Not an exciting day for the Habs but exactly what I had hoped for. Steady as she goes and sends a great message to the room.
