Of course it had to go through ownership. Anything that increases payroll is unlikely in Ottawa. You guys are viewing this as a hockey trade, but I suspect hockey had nothing to do with Ottawa management sitting on their hands and everything to do with Melynk sitting on his wallet.

They are not playing hard, fast hockey, but floater, perimeter hockey. Anderson is great tonight, though.
Duchene's play is irrelevant, IMO. The Senators were a far better TEAM with Turris. At this point, I'm thinking if the Senators were going to refuse to re-sign Turris at 6 per, they would have been better off dealing with Nashville directly (i.e. getting Girard, Kamenev and a 2nd, and keeping Bowers, the first and third). I don't think the Sens will re-sign Duchene, and I also don't think they'll recoup what they paid for him. But hey, at least they aren't tied to a long-term 6 million dollar contract for a 1B / 2A, 200 foot centre.

And here's a great comment about that.

    Greg Wyshynski‏ @wyshynski

I really hope that was Chiarelli trying to get leverage on Shero to make Larsson available.

But then again it is Chiarelli.

Partly to that.. but mostly on the 1st goal where he tried to deflect the puck out of the zone off the inside of his skate along the boards and then watched the turnover skate by him to the net without really doing anything. He knew he was being cute when he did it. It was a lazy play. He was directly responsible for turnovers on both goals... not to mention he got blown by two other times for breakaways that Anderson bailed him out on. He was awful defending last night.

agreed.. the only reason Karlsson's turnovers and lazy play didn't directly lead to 4 goals, instead of two.

You guys are even taking over random team threads?

Let's get a post war going in the Carolina thread! They need to see some action over there.

Karlsson was bad, bad, bad last night. When he got robbed by Howard, he was almost happy for Howard... He needs to get mean.

The OT goal was telling. Anderson skated right off and didn't even look at Karlsson. I think he was mad at him for that gaffe. Bad luck or not, Karlsson wasn't ready and certainly hasn't been the Karlsson we are used to. I hope this lights a fire under him because right now he's not the same player.

I agree this team played better with Turris. There's no reason they shouldn't have re-signed him.
