Formenton's RFA deadline is approaching (Dec1st) with no indications that the Sens are offering him a contract. Rumours are he could start to look at a European deal, but that's kinda up in the air depending on the rules around him leaving the country if he's involved in an open investigation legally. If it's just Hockey Canada investigating, then he I can't see why legally he couldn't go.

DJ Smith has a 3yr deal he signed in 2022 (Expires after the 2024-25 season). However, that yr is a Team Option year. So this could be his final yr as the head coach of Ottawa.

To me, the issue isn't which goalie, it's the term. Neither of them is a long-term solution. Kings defensive structure is way better, which is a big difference. Either guy for 1-2 years cheap would be fine. I think Forsberg is a better starting option.
