The Blackhawks have signed undrafted goalie Arvid Söderblom to a ELC out of the SHL. One of the only undrafted European players that has piqued my interest this year. Someone to keep an eye on in goalie-starved dynasty leagues.

    Charlie Roumeliotis@CRoumeliotis

#Blackhawks agree to terms with goaltender Arvid Söderblom on a two-year, entry-level contract that runs through 2022-23 season and carries a $883,750 cap hit.

He ranked second in goals-against average (2.03) and save percentage (.922) in Swedish Hockey League this season.

Duncan Keith as a Chicago Blackhawk

    Regular Season
    1,192 games
    105 goals
    520 assists
    625 pts
    +144
    653 PIM

    Playoffs
    135 games
    18 goals (5 GWG + 1 OT goal)
    68 assists
    86 pts
    +24
    66 PIM

2009-2010 James Norris Memorial Trophy Winner
2013-2014 James Norris Memorial Trophy Winner
    2014-2015 Conn Smythe Trophy Winner
    2009-2010 NHL 1st Team All-Star
    2013-2014 NHL 1st Team All-Star
    4x All-Star
    3 Stanley Cups (2010 , 2013 , 2015)

Of special note is Keith's performance in the 2015 playoffs. The Hawks basically went with 2 defensive pairings after Michael Rosival broke his ankle in the 2nd round of the playoffs. Keith's stats during the 2015 playoffs: 3 goals, 18 assists in 23 games averaging over 31 minutes per game. Oh yeah, he scored the GWG in Game 6 when the Blackhawks won the Cup. Keith was the most important piece of the Hawks Cup run and should have been the 2010 Conn Smythe winner in addition to his 2015 award.

I guess he’s not. Maybe he’s taking a stand against a team that permits sexual misconduct and tries to hide it. F’n Blackhawks!

FAR different than permitting sexual misconduct, rather seeking out to draft those those who have been convicted of
    Of sexual misconduct behaviour.

    Oh wait.
Oops… maybe just not a Blackhawks fan, perhaps you’re right Axe.

    Sorry Tweetdrivr.

Don't be. Valid point. Honestly - as many know my Montreal fandom has been very dear to me. It breaks my heart that I feel very strongly that it is time to move on. The Habs have been an integral part of my family history. And now they have rewarded that with villainy and hatred. I know the players on the ice didn't do this. Some have told me I can still root for that team. But I don't think that is right. I would guess/hope that most Blackhawks fans are in the same boat. These aren't the sort of things you can just separate from your fandom. Right?

I'm not so sure about that. The number of people I see defending them online is kinda sickening. It was the same when the Kane rape allegations came out in 2015 and how so many fans came to his defense and started vilifying the accuser without knowing any of the details. And any time you get discussions about the Blackhawk name and logo you'll get a certain obnoxious group defending and justifying the organization. Not only does the team's lack of moral integrity disgust me but there is a big segment of the fanbase I do not want to be associated with. I guess that would be the case to some degree with any team but I've seen too much from Chicago's fanbase to want any part of it.

When you say "defending them" are you saying they are defending the cover up of an ex coach's sexual abuse?

They are questioning the accuser asking why did he take 10 years to come forward and saying that his motives are financial. They also question why didn't the accuser stand up for himself. I see a lot of talk about the victim being a hockey player and being able to physically respond to any advances from a video coach. Another common line of defense is that the Hawks didn't do anything criminally wrong and that it wasn't their legal responsibility to report an assault against an adult. (18 year-old player) I have also seen the line of defense of- you weren't there, you don't know what happened.

I saw a local billboard from the AHL Chicago Wolves that said "Winning shouldn't cost you everything." Damn! What a shot at the Blackhawks. I love it!
