Ugly hits to the head in the Predator game.

Emelin leaving his skates to deliver a very nasty hit to the head of Marc Staal. No penalty either. Just terrible officiating. A still photo clearly shows Emelin's waistline ABOVE the painted endboard. Really hope its not serious as Staal has come back from such ugly injuries in his career so far.

Forsberg with a late elbow to the head of Jimmy Vesey, drawing blood and resulting in the NHL offices enforcing concussion protocol.

Thanks, I think the biggest challenge to Tony DeAngelo right now is consistency.

When the kid is on his game, the passes are smooth, he jumps into the play with ease and his poke checks are very effective.

Unfortunately he is also prone to turnovers and although he has improved in that area, he is still making more than he should. Then again most of the team are prone to turning the puck over as well.

So if Tony is riding pine its because AV is attempting to use it as an "opportunity for learning"

As a right handed shot and with Shattenkirk out of the lineup Tony DeAngelo is at or near the top of the depth chart in terms of handedness.

Remember that DeAngleo is not a very big kid so his game is about skating, moving the puck and keeping his head up.

Now I am half hoping to see AV gone as he does not really mesh well with the younger players that will be populating the updated roster. Maybe a mutual parting of the ways is forthcoming ?

I really like that they are taking the high road here.

The recent management of the club has been effective so I am willing to put my trust in Gorton, Gordie Clark and the other scouts

If the team does indeed have a fire sale, what is your opinion on Jimmy Vesey moving forward now that we've had a decent sample size as to know what he is? Will he ever become fantasy relevant or waiver fodder? Or do you think he's one of the assets that will get moved? It's been hard to gauge what guys like him, Hayes,Miller can become with how Vigneault uses younger players.

I am going to disagree with the syntax of "fire sale" because I believe NY is going to get a very good return on Nash/Grabner & Holden. I think its going to be 3 picks and 2 kids in total. However that isn't what you asked

The issue with Vesey is that coach does not give young players enough leash. AV uses the bench as a punishment for lack of consistency or poor puck management. As a result players like Vesey have been pushed down the roster, with Jimmy starting the season on the 4th line. They have to make a mistake and learn from it... Vesey has moved UP the food chain thanks to the injury situation. He has shown some nice moves, going to the paint and not backing down from the punishment from doing that. His linemates have also improved so that he is getting the puck on his stick in better situations. He skates very well, has good speed and size too. He just hasn't put it all together so in that aspect he is somewhat similar to Chris Kreider who looks unstoppabe on one play, then blows coverage on another. Kreider has gotten much better without the puck and Vesey still needs to improve that aspect of his game.

I think he returns for another kick at the can with a bridge deal. He is still only 24 years old. Perhaps NY management doesn't bring in another winger with more experience and Vesey gets a legit shot at a top 6 slot. He certainly has that kind of upside but needs to improve his finish. Then again there are a few wingers ahead of him on the depth chart so maybe he fits on the 3rd line and hopefully garners some PP time.
