Huge trade...advice please :)

Hey guys,

Hoping to get some opinions on a deal.

I'm in a 12 team, H2H league with 6 keepers, going up to 8 keepers next year.

Stats are -
Goals (G), Assists (A), Points (P), Plus/Minus (+/-), Penalty Minutes (PIM), Powerplay Goals (PPG), Powerplay Assists (PPA), Shots on Goal (SOG)

Wins (W), Goals Against Average (GAA), Saves (SV), Save Percentage (SV%), Shutouts (SHO)

My current team is -

C - Thornton, Kopitar, Dubinsky, Couture
LW - Ovie, Versteeg, Avery
RW - Horton, Giroux, Franzen, Skinner
D - Erik Karlsson, John Carlson, Leopold and Erik Johnson
G- Craig Anderson, Halak, Lehtonen.

The proposed deal has me giving up
Halak, Karlsson, Kopitar, Giroux + middle draft pick next year

for

Ryan Miller, Mike Green, Derrick Brassard, Brandon Morrow OR Thomas Fleischman

I would be acquiring, arguably, the two "best" players in the deal in Miller and Green, but am giving lots of potential in Karlsson, Kopi, and Giroux...though if Brassard keeps riding with Nash and Columbus improves he could make the deal for me.

Any thoughts??? Thanks in advance!

I like your side better.

Halak, Karlsson, Kopitar, Giroux + middle draft pick next year.

The deal, may help you for a yr or two, but after that your side is better LT.

Green is tempting but I think you are giving up too much. The 4 players you are giving up are in my opinion better options. The only upgrade you really get is Green (IMO Halak > Miller even though its early to say that) and its probably not by much in the long run over Karlsson. Giving up elite pieces like Kopi and Giroux just breaks it completely for me. Stay with the guys you have.

I am not a subscriber to the theory that the team getting the best player always wins. In a large deal like this particular one, I don't think that is true.

I would not do this trade. The difference between Halak and Miller is minimal. Buffalo is not good team while St. Louis can be a powerhouse over the next few years with all the young talent that they have. Also Kopitar and Giroux together dwarf anything else he might give you. Substitute Franzen for Giroux and Leopold for Karlsson and see what he says.

It's an overpayment. If you can keep Giroux, it'd be considerable.

I wouldn't do this deal. Miller hardly stands out as a keeper for you after the deal is done - Giroux, Kopitar and Eriksson cumulatively kept have to outweigh Green - Brassard is a complete non-factor here.

Count my vote for keeping your side of things too. Giving up both Kopitar and Giroux makes me queasy.
