Atlanta is 30th in goals against (and when they play the game they have in hand compared to Edmonton, they will be 31st).

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....the same 32 that play in your NHL. At the time I posted that, Colorado had allowed the most (by far), Edmonton had allowed the second most (31st), and Atlanta third most (30th), but Edmonton had only allowed one more goal than Atlanta but had played one more game.....so when Atlanta played another game and gave up 2 goals or more, they'd be 31st in goals against...............................get it?

I can't believe this thread is still alive... but it certainly is interesting to look back at it.

Not that anyone will remember, but near the beginning of this thread I pretty much said ATL was a terrible defensive team and any goalie on the team would have crappy stats as a result. Everyone pretty much dismissed this notion, saying they are much better this year, etc etc, and low and behold they are again the bottom dwellers in the league in terms of defense and GAA.

Pavs had a great stretch for 2 months, but eventually came back down to earth and anyone who held onto Pavs certainly felt the pain.

Contrary to what many of you seem to believe, my prediction is next year will be no different, and ATL again, will be one of the worst defensive teams in the league, and Pavs again will finish with crappy GAA/Save %.

+1. They can only move up from here, let's just hope they upgrade their D too.

I'm not worried about the players on D too much. I'm worried about the way the team plays D. If you ever watch a Thrashers game, the defense allows the opponents to do whatever they please, giving them all the room in the world on the outside. The Thrashers need a defensive system, not stand around like statues.
