They're being pretty secretive about which knee it is - hope they tell the surgeon.
I'm pretty sure exploratory surgery requires more recovery time than a few days. I would think a couple weeks, at least. With any surgery there is swelling and healing that needs to take place, as well as getting into game shape after being off your feet for a period of time. Needless to say, it doens't look good.
The Devils went from a top flight NHL team to one with a dismal future in the span of a month or two. The Kovalchuk signing is a prime example of fighting for something so adamantly that when you get it you look at yourself and say "why did I want this so bad, again?". I'd feel sorry for their fans, but they've had quite a run of about 15 years of success.

From personal experience, repairing a meniscus isn't all that serious. I wouldn't be surprised to see him back closer to 2 mths than the 3 they're predicting, depending when he has the actual surgery, of course. Still his fantasy season is wiped out though so it doesn't much matter. (I thought I stole him at 11 in my pool)

Shit...
"Zach Parise is out for three months after undergoing knee surgery on Tuesday.
Parise had exploratory arthroscopic surgery and they found a torn meniscus. They repaired the damage, but he's expected to need months to recover. Going into this season, Parise had only missed three NHL games in his entire career and just one due to injury. This is a huge blow for the Devils, who are already reeling after a 3-9-1 start to the season.

My team is in complete shambles this year:
Parise out three months.
Rask replaced by Thomas.
Varlamov (who I need as my 2nd goalie now) is injuried and could be replaced by Neuvirth.
Spezza in and out with a bum groin depending on the day/week.
I was counting Parise, Spezza and Rask to all be main contributors on my club this year. Think again.
