    When I traded him I got Kopitar, Markov, and MPS. Regret the deal but it did make my team a bit better, IMO.

    Yup you got the short end on this deal.

    Sorry man, hate to add to the unanimous choice on this but that's pretty bad. You really should post before making a trade of this magnitude...

    If you move Crosby, you want more. Even in a 1 year.
    I think the deal Superchief got was a heck of a lot better than what you offered for Crosby, I can see why it was rejected.

    Kopitar, Markov, MPS sounds about right... And sounds somewhat comparable to what Superchief got. I'm not sure WHEN you made the trade, because obviously MPS' value has shot up lately, and Kopitar's did this last year as well.

    Kopitar = Stastny + Turris
    Markov = Bryzgalov
    MPS = Tarasenko, Quincey

    What are you talking about? You appear to have randomly superimposed your value system for Bryzgalov, Stastny, Turris, Quincey, Tarasenko, and equated it into Kopitar, Markov and MPS? That is just weird, and not in any way useful.

    You would also rather have Stastny, Turris, Bryzgalov Quincey & tarasenko more than Roberto Luongo, St. Louis, Alfredsson, and a 1st round pick? I cannot fathom how you will ever win a pool with thoughts like these.

    Superchief - I notice in your post that your pro players cycle out after 3 years - was that a factor in the deal?

    Shoeless: no, the roster in my sig is a different league entirely.

    Everyone: Thank You for the input. Here: http://www.dobberhockey.com/index.ph...ad.php&t=74409
    I asked if my asking price for Crosby was too high or low. Most agreed that my price was too high. Others daid, if you want to get better players you have to add things in return.

    It seems no matter WHAT I do it is the wrong thing.

    Not a smoothmove but , we've all done similar deals at one point.Several years ago I used the 1st pick overall to select Colby Armstrong!
    The deal is done , put it past you and work your team.
    You're one Crosby injury away from looking like a genious,lol!

    chief, here is what you say you want in that other thread:

    1. A goalie (not a time-splitter)
    2. A top 5 forward
    3. Two top 75-80 forwards
    4. Two high rated prospects
    5. Two high draft picks

    And here's what you got:
    1. A goalie
    2. A top 40 forward (rated #36)
    3. A throw-in d-man (rated #54)
    4. Two decent prospects.

    My question is - did you even shop Crosby around? I can't imagine a scenario where if you had shopped him around that you couldn't have gotten WAY more than what you got.

    I would say you lost the trade... but it's not terrible.

    You absolutely needed a goaltender.
    Bryzgalov (so long as he doesn't go the KHL) is a 65-70 start goalie who very well COULD sign with one of many teams that don't have a bonafide #1 goalie for 2011-2012: CHI, PHI, WAS, SJ. Statsny is a terrific emerging player.

    My recommendation to you was to try to get something like: Kopitar, Stastny, and an emerging D - like Karlsson. Bryz is as valuable as Kopitar and you got Stastny... so not bad. You really could have used the defenseman upgrade and didn't get it.

    Not great, but not awful either.

    Ya it's not that bad given your team depth, how deep is this league ? I think the negativity comes from not getting enough elite talent coming back. Reason for this is the same as why people always say whoever got the best player in the deal won the trade, and that is you're always trying to get as many elite core players as possible and fill in your depth through drafting, not trade for depth, so trading a big 3 for depth is never going to be popular.

    Getting a goalie was a must as previously mentioned, just would have been nice to get more quality than quantity

    Sorry to pile it on but I wouldn't have done that trade even without giving up Elliott and the two picks. Its not perfect but an easy way to get a grip on the value of the big three is to look at Dobber's ranking they are all worth 420+ pts and the next guy on the list is like 160 or something. Anyways if tarasenko and Turris pan out into ppg guys then you dont look so bad.

    Superchief, you still alive after this pummeling from the guys?

    Hey you did what you thought was best, you addressed some areas, you fell short..but now is the time to pick yourself up off the floor, dust your pants off and get back at it and just make sure if u come across a trade again in the future that your unsure of, or not confident in making, come to the boards here and seek advice, so that next time there is a better outcome.
