TSNBobMcKenzie‎: @BrianHuddle That is a fraudulent Gino Reda account. It's not Gino. He's deeper into vacation than even I am. So that's deep.

EDIT: Beat me to to it Yardie!

Ribeiro, Roy, Clowe, Malone etc. are junk? You have too high expectations. Let's be real here, you're not getting a Bobby Ryan or James Neal with one year of Kaberle.

    Of course. Completely agree.

But Kaberle contributes more to the team than any of those guys will.

If Dallas want to deal Ribiero and his contract they'll need to include something else (like Glennie LOL).

If the Leafs want a player like Malone for a lot less money they can sign Torres who is Malone-lite.

The Devil's 1st rounder is basically a 2nd rounder in what I understand is a weak draft year.

Sabres can't afford to deal Roy.

    Clowe and something else maybe...

Are you out of your mind?? Think about that for a second. Suter alone would land you Kessel. The offer from Nashville was a 1st rounder and Blum for Kessel. It was widely reported and from a few highly credible sources.

Suter is a stud and stud d like him are hard to come by. There is no way you trade Suter for Kessel straight up so that deal makes no sense.

I am a Kaberle owner and am almost as excited as any Leafs fan to see him moved, although I could care less what the return is, I just want to see him go somewhere where he can max out the points and possibly have a good +/-.

But I've said all along that Leafs fans are dreaming with some of these packages they think Burke will be able to pull in, and the actual return will disappoint those that were too optimistic. If they can manage to get a Ryan Clowe even a Ryan Malone straight up for Kaberle, I would be very happy as a Leafs fan.

Kaberle is definitely a highly sought after commodity, there's no disputing that, but he's also got only 1 year left on a contract and that will weigh A TON in a GMs mind when trading for him. Unless there is a sign and trade or there is some serious condition attached to his re-signing with the team he's dealt to (more than just the typical "conditional late rounder"), then the return won't be near what many Leafs fans are hoping.

I think Burke will get a nice return for Kaberle. If he just wanted to move him at all costs, Kaberle would be gone by now. The fact that Kaberle has a nice cap hit for another year and loves Toronto gives Burke leverage. He does not need to deal him.

They sure do but I'd rather keep Kabs than either of those two guys. I believe the Leafs are a better team with Kabs than either of those two.

I don't expect the moon in return for Kaberle but I want something exciting in return.

When the Kaberle saga started years and years ago I was living with my parents, was driving my grampa's 88 Chev, had no job and no girlfriend. Now I'm married with a baby girl, have a job, own a house, and just bought a shiny new car.

Throughout all this change the Kaberle saga has been the one constant.

For me, this has to come down to more than Riberio.

I'd be shocked if it was a return that amounted to more than Ribeiro.

I am guessing the return would involve a nice (not incredible) young player and a super draft pick (or multiple good picks). I do not expect a star player for star player type of deal.

Lots a love for Riberio on this thread. Who knew.

For me, perhaps 'more than' = 'different than'.

Given the difficulty that Dallas will have in unloading Riberio's contract given the financial/cap situation of a lot of teams - if they truly want to deal him ($5M for three more years - not horrible for a #1C assuming he performs but not exactly cheap) I think Burke will be able to squeeze more out of Joe.

I'd still rather Kaberle on my team than Riberio.

OK, let's agree to disagree, I don't think there's any way that Burke is able to get BOTH a top 6 forward AND a super draft pick for Kaberle unless he (or the trading GM) somehow re-signs him to a reasonable extension before the trade.
