Seriously, that offer was never on the table. Did you get that from Eklund?

Got back from camp yesterday, and like the first things I said to my brother was, if Kaberle was traded. Was so pissed, since you're not extending him, trade him off already Burkie!!!
The Nashville offer must have included 2 of those guys max 3 but no way it was for all 4....Bruins would be stupid not to take that cuz at the time the Leafs 1st round was not yet known to be a #2 overall.
according to Gino Reda via twitter "According to Mackenzie a deal for Kaberle WILL happen tomorrow" Let's see what Burke has in store for us!
Wouldn't surprise me. He's had the weekend to ponder his options and make a final decision, more or less, on what to do with Kaberle. I'm sure he's got quite a few offers on the table already, now it's just time to pick one and go through with it.
Guesses to where he may be headed? I'll go with Anaheim, or maybe Columbus.
Hahahahahaha. And what, Burke turned it down because it wasn't enough? Was there an offer of Mike Green, Backstrom, Carlson and a 1st on the table too?
Let's be reasonable here. Kaberle's not gonna go for much more then a good prospect and a depth player or draft pick. That's the going rate for a player of his calibre on the final year of his contract these days.

The Nashville offer involved Ellis, a 1st, and another player. Suter was DEFINITELY not in the mix. My source is a contact in Nashville.
Kaberle to Anaheim for Peter Holland and a 2nd round pick, or Kaberle to Columbus for Petr Straka and a 2nd...or something like that?
My guess is that Kaberle gets traded for one these:
Fleischmann + Eakin
Malone
Clowe
Rolston + 1st + prospect (not Josefson, Tedenby or Urbom)
Ribeiro
Dorsett + 2nd
Roy
Alright, I'm gonna come out and say it that I'm a biased Leafs fan. Still, I don't understand how people think Burke got suckered in the Kessel deal. By all means, I'm not suggesting it was a great trade but it wasn't bad either.
I believe 24 players last year scored over 30 goals in a league that has over 600 active players. Kessel scored 30 goals and played 70 games. Pro-rated to 80 games and we're looking at 35 goals (hope my math is right). Now only 11 players in the league scored 35 or more goals! What value does someone who can score 35 goals in the league have? What would you give up to acquire one of the top 15 scorers in the league?
As mentioned before, no one knew one of the picks was going to turn out to be Seguin. This was a calculated risk, granted one that didn't work out as intended. But when trading for a proven commodity in exchange for unknown commodities in the form of draft picks, a bit of a premium has to be paid. Until Seguin steps onto the ice, we still don't know if he will find success. Countless other high picks have been busts ie. Stefan, Daigle etc etc.
Lastly, allow me to quote one of Angus' four golden rules for Trading.
#3 "Proven players have significantly more value than unproven players"
I know this is meant for fantasy purposes but it still has relevance in the NHL. Seguin hasn't even scored an NHL goal...yet. Also popular belief dictates the team that gets the best player in the trade wins. Kessel is clearly the best player in this deal...for now anyways.
For the time being, this is my argument regarding the Kessel deal. But in all honesty, we won't be able to properly evaluate the full significance of this deal for another few years...one that we still might find where the Leafs come out on top!
Ok now onto Kaberle. He gets dealt, you just know Burke has been cooking something up. And I feel the return will fit the value.

Guys... Wasn't the Kessel situation an hostile offer to a RFA and NOT a deal? It doesn't matter what was on the table; the bruins couldn't have taken another "better deal". Totally irrelevant.
As for Kabs, I'll wait and see on this one, but if you're a leafs fan, I wouldn't hold my breath on a great return.

No it wasn't an offer sheet. If it was Burke would have traded a 1st, 2nd, 3rd in order to land him. He decided to go the trade route and that's why Boston now owns 2 1st rounders and a 2nd. The Bruins were free to deal Kessel as an RFA to any team they wanted, and they never did have an offer sheet signed by Kessel that they had to deal with.
