Am in a 16 team league where we took over an NHL team and we drafted from 14 remaining teams in the league for two drafts: NHL skaters with 72 plus games for skaters and 50 games for goalies. Then a prospect draft for the other players that dont meet the above criteria. I had the Pittsburgh Penguins. Feeling that I was lacking overall roster depth and for sure prospect depth I made this idiotic trade ....

    Crosby for

Marion Gaborik, Brendan Dubinsky, Derek Stepan, Chris Krieder, and Bobby Sanguinetti.

Being a Penguins fan I still shudder that I traded my franchise player ... lucky for me I made up for it with stellar drafts!

Everytime I see a thread like this my heart begins to hurt, a few come to mind but I think none will ever be as bad as this.

In 2007 I traded away Mike Cammalieri, Tuuka Rask(rc), and two 2nd round picks in exchange for Luc Robitaille.

Ya felt good to own the highest scoring left winger of all time, but after his 50 point seasons and well Cammalieri flourished in LA, Rask became a top prospect I still shutter to think "what if I didnt make the trade...."

But... Robitaille retired after the '05/'06 season??

that's nothing, this other gm traded heatley for mr.knees michalek, cheechoo who isnt even in the nhl, and a 2nd rounder they used on sutton who is now a duck

and this other gm, traded their stud goalie who knocked out the cup favourites and the defending cup champs, took them to the conference finals single handedly, for a decent and okay prospect.

    ouch.

wow some beauties in here ...... only going into our third season in my keeper league and there have been a couple of gongers

First by me .... start if last season traded Zidlicky and a second round pick for Gilroy ..... stupid Hobey Baker trophy hype

also by me ....... 08-09 season traded 2 picks for bryan McCabe ..... picks ended up being PK Subban and James Neal ..... still hurts

Made up for it with these dandies

start of 08-09 season Traded My Havlat, Hossa and O. Jokinen for his Kane, Kopitar, Cammalleri and second round pick that ended up being OEL.

end of 08-09 season I TRaded My Theodore and Laich for his Fleury and Giroux

he was playing alongside lindros and leclair in preseason and things looked very good

Wow longer ago then I thought, thanks for the correction.

For me still the worse move I ever made.

2nd was chosing Jack Johnson over Anze Kopitar.

    Regretted it ever since.

Last season I drafted Kronwall and Burns with my 12th n 13th picks. 1 round later Keith and Doughty went. Ouch!
I ended up trading Kronwall a couple days later tho, and managed to trade for Doughty a couple days after that. It still hurts tho.

Everytime I think about that, I just dont know why I did that!

I suppose trading Halak to Smack1919 over a year ago is mine - I honestly don't remember what I got back - pretty sure I have nothing on my roster now that comes from that deal. It was a numbers game and I wasn't going to be able to keep him considering he was sitting behind Price at the time - more missed opportunity than bad deal I guess. And so it goes.

In 2007 I made two of them:

    1) Trade Jay Bouwmeester & Mike Green for Ryan Smyth & an 8th round pick.

    2) Traded Jeff Carter & Henrik Sedin for Jonathan Cheechoo.

Holy smokes, I hate the 1st one even more. Those trades are up there for the worst in this thread.
