This is a weekly Head to Head league

$75 yearly fee to the pot

All money paid out at season's end.

I run the league as a labor of love.

    Player Pool: All Players.
    Positions: C, LW, RW, D, S and G.
Transactions: Lineups are set once for the start of each period.
Deadline is 5 minutes before gametime on the first day of the period.
Owners may set lineups and change players' positions from a list of their eligible positions.
Owners may do unlimited free add/drops.

Schedule: Weekly scoring periods, starting on Mondays.
Playoffs start in Period 22 and last for 4 Periods.
    Fees: League Entry Fee: $75

    Scoring: Head-to-Head, Individual Categories System.
Scoring based on total stats each period.

    Scoring for Categories

    CATEGORIES:

    SKATERS
    1) Goals (G)
    2) Assists (A)
    3) Points
    4) Plus/Minus (+/-)
    5) Penalty Minutes (PIM)
    6) SPECTM Special Teams
    (PPG+PPA+(SHG*2)+(SHA*2))
    7) (Hits+Blocks)

    GOALIES
    1) SAVEPT SAVE POINTS (S-(GA*8))
    2) (minutes/20)-GA
    3) 2W Two Times Wins + Shutouts ((2 * W) + SO)

The Save Points and Periods-GA categories mimic the Save% and Goals Against Average categories many leagues use. They're designed to reward goalies that play well and play often, and they discourage the practice of sitting goalies to preserve a percentage or average.

    MAX ROSTER GOALIES:

We have a team limit of 4 per team on your roster at all times *

    * allowed to have 5 if one of them has 25 games or less games of total career NHL experience.

    ***

    POSITION ELIGIBILITY:

100% controlled by CBS. They are wrong sometimes. Sometimes it will help you. Sometimes it will hurt you. Its just the way it goes.

    AVAILABLE PLAYERS IN POOL:

100% controlled by CBS. If the player is not in the CBS data base then you can not "own" them.

    PLAYOFFS:

The Two Division Winners by Overall H2H Win/Loss/Tie Winning Percentage at end of our regular season make the playoffs as Playoff Seeds 1 in Each Division. Each Division winner gets a first round playoff bye.
Wildcard Seeds 2 in each division are the top non-Division winning teams with the best winning pcts in each division.
Wildcard Seeds 3 in each division is awarded to the Highest Ranked team in the BREAKDOWN rankings under the POWER RANKINGS not already having one of the top 2 seeds in each division as above.
The Breakdown rankings in the Power Rankings can be found under Standings on the CBS Sportsline league home page. An explanation of what determines the Breakdown rating in the Power Rankings can be found there as well. Using the Breakdown rank from the Power Rankings for the 3 seeds protects the GM(s) who consistently has good scoring weeks, but through just plain bad luck always seems to play the hot teams H2H continually throughout the season.

The playoff bracket will be formatted like this:

    Playoff Brackets:

    6 Teams total
3 Teams from each Division regardless of records or Power Rankings

    Playoff Week 1 (Period 22)
Bye Week awarded to First Place in each Division
USA Wildcard 3 seed at USA Wildcard 2 seed Playoff
Canada Wildcard 3 seed at Canada Wildcard 2 seed Playoff

    Playoff Week 2 (Period 23)
USA Wildcard Playoff winner at USA Division winner
Canada Wildcard Playoff winner at Canada Division winner

    Playoff Week 3 & 4 (Period 24 & 25)*
Championship Cup Series - Winners of Playoff Week 2 games (Period 23) will play each other for The Cup in our Finals. It will always be a USA vs Canada final.
Third Place Prize Game: Losers of Playoff Week 2 (Period 23) games will play each other for 3rd place prize money.

*Stats combined manually for one 7 x 3 (10 Category) result in each final playoff (Playoff Week 3 & 4). Commish will manually do the math to combine the two scoring weeks for one combined two week result.

We do allow lineup changes between playoff rounds, and during the 2 week "Finals" Period.

Playoff Game Tie Breaker: Higher seeded team advances.

    OWNING PLAYERS:

You need to keep all players on your roster at all times to "own" them. Only players in the CBS data base can be on a roster AND you can only roster players who are either...1) on NHL contracts or 2) who have been drafted by NHL teams.

    ***

    ADD DROPS and WAIVERS:

    Unlimited. Free. No max.
Add/drops are handled by a waivers process.
The waivers process runs every day.
The waiver order resets after each weeks' games.
Dropped players remain on waivers for 1 day.

Being a add/drop/waiver wire maniac is absolutely 100% OK. I was actually in a league once where they made fun of me because I made so many moves! Some will tell you to leave your team untouched until December, because early stats can be deceiving. From my experience this is bad advice. My advice is leave your stars alone, but aggressively pick up decent-looking players. Every roster has a few spots to allow for turnover. Pick up now, ask questions later. Waiver wire aggression here is free, unlimited and again, encouraged! Its a better league when everyone is active with waivers and add drops.

Waivers are the process by which team owners can select from the pool of available players who are not on a team's roster in the league and are designated with an asterisk *.
The team owner with the better waiver priority that puts a claim on a * player will receive the player when waivers clear. For example, if two or more owners put in claims for Dioner Navarro *, the claim with the best waiver priority is awarded Navarro.

All available players not on waivers are considered free agents and are available for immediate pick up.

Any and all players that are drafted in the real life NHL drafts each season....these players can not get added via FA that year. They all must wait and they go into our annual draft for their first availability to our league rosters.
Players not eligible until the following year's NHL draft, can NOT be drafted in our current season draft, or added via FA, or waivers, during our season, even if they do appear in the CBS player data base at any time during our season.

    Trade Deadline
In an effort to keep the integrity of the league, a deadline for trades will be imposed at 11:59 PM ET 2/1. The date of the trade deadline is exactly 4 weeks to the day of the end of our regular season. No trades will be allowed after that time. Trades will begin again the next season in September. September 1st each year trades are allowed to September 15th (cut down day).

The trading of draft picks is never allowed.

Trades consisting of cash and/or players to be named later or clauses are not allowed.

KEEPER RULES and our UNDER 23 RULE:

September 15th is cut down day each year. In future seasons you will be able to keep any 5 F's, 3 D and 1 G of your choice PLUS any 3 "Under 23's". The non-Under 23's MUST be the 5/3/1 set up. We all will have 5/3/1. A total of 9 non-Under 23 keepers from season to season. The players that are not on any keeper list will be in that next season's draft. You get to keep an extra 3 players of any position* who are "Under 23's". The way we define an "Under 23" for our keeper rules is as follows: Every September 15th before our annual draft you will have to make your keeper cuts. The 3 keeper "Under 23's" must all be 23 or younger during that calendar year. So, for example, lets say it is September of 2010. (Next year). To figure out if a player is eligible to be kept as one of your "Under 23's", you take the year of our draft, 2010 in this example, then you subtract 23 from that, which is 1987. So, 1987 is the magic number for the 2010 "Under 23" keeper list. All "Under 23's" must be born in 1987 (according to the CBS Sportsline data base) or born after 1987 to qualify as one of your 3 "Under 23" keepers. It sounds kind of complicated, but its really very simple. So, for season 2011, all "Under 23" keepers would have to have been born in 1988 or after that year 1988. Got it? Your other 9 keepers can be born any year. And again you get to keep 5 F's, 3 D and 1 G there. Its a overall total of 12 keepers. This is not a dynasty league where you keep your entire roster from season to season.

You are required to keep the 9 and 3 each year. If your 12 are better than my 12, well, you earned that advantage. You can keep less than 12 but you will receive no draft pick compensation or any compensation for doing so, so you might as well keep your best 12.
If you don't have 3 "Under 23's" to keep? Oh well, your loss. Make sure you have at least 3 on your roster when the prior regular season ends.

    * You can only keep 1 "Under 23" goalie max. (So, you as far as goalies, the max overall total would be 2. 1 non-23 and 1 Under 23)

Last season for some inexplicable reason, the USA crew domintaed the Canadian crew. Keeping that in mind we are looking for a Canadian owner that knows his stuff inside and out. Someone that lives breathes and sleeps hockey. As far as the US owner, we will accept any first-time poolie. Preferably someone that has never heard of Sidney Crosby.

In all seriousness, this is a great league that is a lot of fun.
