Maybe Backes will be one of the players going back? I can see Montreal being high on him.

I hope Backes is part of the deal or Erik Johnson, Perron and a 1st doesn't seem to be a great deal for the habs.

Probably some combination of Boyes/Perron/Pietriangelo/1st Rounder/2nd Rounder

Wow, The Central division is getting very good. If CBJ can clean up their act with Arniel that could become the most competitive division in hockey.

    -cheers

Not sure I agree. Perron is a very solid prospect already having made an impact int he NHL. The first is 14th overall this year. That's not bad given what they would have had to give Halak to stay, and it takes care of the goaltending issue - now Price is the man, and he'll not command a major salary given Halak's performance this past year, and so they can use that cash elsewhere. The big risk of course is Price not stepping up and/or the fans not accepting him, but my feeling on that is he's a big time elite goalie and will do fine, and once he starts making the big stops in critical games the fans will come around pretty quickly. I like this deal.

That said, it would have been nice to unload Hamrlik as part of this and/or to pick up one of the Blues' many great defensemen prospects.

God in heaven please dont make it be for boyes. Its Michael Ryder all over again.

If it Johnson id be thrilled but we have more of a need for a top 6 forward.

berglund or oshie, backes and a 2nd id be thrilled.

My hopes are high i know.

I do agree though that Backes would be a bigger acquisition for the Habs than Perron, even without the french angle. Backes is a big boy and woudl fit in really well with the small Habs forward corps, and probably will be a real playoff warrior. But Perron is very skilled, and the fact that they passed him over his draft year probably has something to do with this.
