Year Long Hockey League idea

A keeper would be wayyyy to hard to pull off... simply put : we'd keep players in every league seperately, but some players (WJC and Mem cup, for example) would overlap... so we'd be screwed there.

Also, I don't want to be forgotten on the list of those interested! I may be the less knowledgable here (or at least, the one with less fantasy hockey experience), but I love the appeal of having multiple leagues/tourney's count in one big roto-like league.

I really like the way your idea is starting to come together. I look forward to seeing where you go with it.

Sidenote: I'd find it more interesting to include some of the better euro leagues (SWE) and skip the Spengler cup (mentioned earlier). Not only would this be a fun pool, but I'd also expect to learn a pile while drafting and doing the usual research and reading. Any reason and way to learn the Elitserien and KHL better works for me.

I've taken the time to write down a concept for this pool and PM'd all of you who answered positively in this thread. I want your opinions on a couple of things before going final on the rules.

This thing could get off the ground very soon, in time for the Olympics. Read your PM's and reply by PM. Once I have enough returns for a consensus or if it's getting really close to the opening ceremonies, I'll go final and we can coordinate the details.

Lots of great ideas and feedback, opionions. I was reading over the posts, very very intriguing. As mentioned some fine tune details to work out, non keeper is only way to go in the total package scenario. Nice stuff

Lots of fun - and I doubt any of us will really have that much of a leg up on things like the Spengler Cup, The Swedish Elite Legaue, or the KHL.

Thanks for all the feedback so far guys. My intention is to provide websites for stats and research, we are all in multiple pools already, so passing on this info seems like the right thing to do.

We're very close to coming out with a finished product. If anyone else is reading/following this thread and is curious or wants in, just post your interest in here. We'll be moving forward quickly.

I'd like to set up a forum somewhere for this - was thinking proboards would be a quick, free and flexible option.

If anyone has some good ideas for names for the league let me know, otherwise I'll just name it something generic.

The website address will likely be something like:

or something similar.

Looks like some of the final details are being hammered out and if we can get everyone signed up quickly then we can crack off an Olympic draft and be on our way.

Considering this name because of how much drafting we'll be doing...I kind of like it.

Any other last thoughts....I'll be creating the account this afternoon and putting up details here later today. Looking forward to getting things rolling.
