Can't reveal the name of the guy, but I know for a fact (sorry for sounding so Eklund-ish) from someone involved in Flyers' management decisions that the Flyers are actively shopping Hartnell because they believe he is a team cancer.

I'm so sick of hearing about this kind of crap - Tiger Woods, now Carter/Hartnell...let's just play hockey!

From what I have read and heard, I have understood that Hartnell is one of those great dressing room guys. It's hard to believe that he would be the cancer. From a pure hockey standpoint, I think that Hartnell is much more valuable to the Flyers than Jeff Carter.

It seems that when Hartnell is going that the rest of the team goes with him. He provides both grit and scoring.

Either way, its a shame if this is true and the fact that people can so easily report this information is disrespectful for their families....this public display destroys families (whether its professionals or normal people in everyday life)

C'mon are you serious? Hartnell is a solid fit on a scoring line, but to say he is more valuable to the Flyers than a 40-goal, 80-point center who is good in his own end, as well, is stupid.

Hartnell may have heart and grit, but he's also an absolute idiot half of the time - too many stupid penalties.

It's a very wierd situation for the Flyers - I used to hear nothing but good things about Hartnell; that he was very good friends with Richards, Carter, Upshall, etc, his teammates love him, and so on.

But I know for a fact from an insider involved in Flyer's management decisions (I'm sorry, I can't say his name) that they are actively trying to move Hartnell, and he also described him as a "team cancer."

As for this current rumor, I neither know nor care if it's true.
