    Thanks for the update, Chinny.

All looks square on my end, with the exception of Gregory Campbell. I know he's got connections in the league, but I don't really think he's worth $72, especially seeing next year will be his first year making over 1 mil.

Dubinsky ($94) more expensive than Lecavalier ($91)? Callahan ($87) more than Spezza ($68)?Huh? Really?

    Chinny, how are these calculated?

it is actually a pretty complicated formula

i will do my best to explain it tomr.

I also found a small issue that will be corrected tomr, that has a pretty big influence on the salaries!

I have fixed the issue and updated the file.

Please review for any you see with questions

    - a brief explanation on the error

Yahoo added more stats to my import and it was causing SOG to be looking at SHG and therefore any player with a SHG had a huge bump!

found another small bug, has been fixed

Here i go, i will do my best!

Salaries are calculated based off calculated percentages (i will explain below) of the players performance over the past 3 years. The Current/Most recent year is worth 50%, the previous year is worth 35% and 15% for the oldest year.

A players calculated percentage is calculated based on a players rating for that year(see below) as a percentage of the best for that year, the percentage from that calculation is what is used in the above description

A players rating is calculated based on his performance in each stat we track against the best in that stat category, then 1/6th of that (6 stats) added up to get a total.

    example
    for F and D
the max for each stat this season is currently the following
    G - 41
    A - 59
    PPP - 33
+/- - 54 (high is 26, low is -28, all +/- numbers get shifted up by 28 to go from 0 to 54)
    PIM - 219
    SOG - 285

    D. Sedin this year has 32/47/33/+24/24/194 (G/A/PPP/+/-/PIM/SOG)
That gets him ratings of 0.78/0.80/1.00/0.96/0.11/0.68 for a total of 0.72 when you take 1/6th of all the numbers

his 0.72 is then calculated to a percentage of the top guy for the year which happens to be himself so he gets a 100% for this year

take 50% of that and then 35% of his previous year (68.26%) and 15% of the previous year(70.67%) and he gets a 3 year total of 84.49%, which then gets calculated into a salary that will never exceed $200 per player.

This system also provides a bit of a salary cap on rookies and 2nd year players as they don't have numbers to fill in all the years but like real players come yr 4 they could be worth a ton!

Sorry if this went in circles, it isn't easy to explain, please ask more questions if something isn't clear, it took a lot to develop but if i do say so myself is quite impressive and detailed for a real 3yr performance based salary!

    thanks

i should also add the the final percentage is converted to a $ by the following calculation

the players % is then fit into a calculation that takes the top rating (+5% to make sure no one ever hits $200) and the min rating (500ish player, currently about 21%) with every percentage assigned a $ amount between $5 and $200

    currently $200 = 98% and 21% = $5

    a bit more!
the full calculation to go from a % to a Salary is

Min Sal +(((Player %-Min%)*(Max Sal-Min Sal))/(Max%-Min%) *hopefully that works out

Thanks Chinny. Definitely complicated and I appreciate the explanation AND especially the time you put into calculating all of these. Great stuff

Now let's make some trades. I have lots of cap room for those looking to shed some

    Hey,

Just wondering since the season is over if we can possibly get some updated salaries in the near future?? Wouldn't mind having a look see and being planning for next season's roster

    Thanks!
