When I started (about a decade ago, back in '98), this company was first class all the way. Great to employees, decisions that made sense, and I was proud to be an employee of Ma Bell.
But, things changed. They realized that their obligation to stockholders was more important than customer service. Cutting employee perks, moving call centres to India, bringing along "emily" and having one queue for all divisions was an absolute train wreck. Bell saw that they can't make more, but they can save more! Cutting the overhead increases their bottom line.
Bell is a shell of it's former self. I'm absolutely embarrassed by how it's run. My friends who are still there hate it. For so many of us, it was a career. Now for them, it's just a job. The decisions made are simply inept.
The day I quit Bell was quite possibly one of the top 10 happiest days of my life.
Now, I wouldn't recommend their service to my worst enemy. I wouldn't take their service even if it was free, they'd still find a way to screw that up.
