Awesome. I sure hope that Staios, Horcoff and Reasoner get hurt now as well! I\'d love to see a team with 0 veteran players on it.

How long would he be for? If it\'s a month, I might try to upgrade my defense quick.

I have my MS Excel schedule tool that looks at teams schedule over a selected period of time and assigns a number value. It looks at the number of games, home or away and the quality of opponent. -- The higher the number the more potential for points from your players.
Dobber uses this tool for his “looking ahead” section but it can do more then just look at a week. I use it when looking for injury replacements too. Just thought I would put a resource up here for you guys.
Here is how it works out for Sheldon Souray. Since Souray will be out for approximately 6 weeks I list all the values for NHL teams over that period (starting October 23 and ending November 30) to help you decide what teams to look for a replacement defencemen on.
Rank Team Rating
1 Capitals 19.15
2 Lightning 18.95
3 Panthers 18.51
4 Stars 18.48
5 Rangers 18.19
6 Hurricanes 18.04
7 Ducks 17.90
8 Canadiens 17.45
9 Wild 17.35
10 Devils 17.34
11 Oilers 17.18
12 Blue Jackets 17.08
13 Maple Leafs 17.06
14 Blackhawks 16.97
15 Flyers 16.96
16 Blues 16.66
17 Penguins 16.66
18 Sabres 16.49
19 Flames 16.05
20 Thrashers 15.99
21 Red Wings 15.88
22 Senators 15.86
23 Predators 15.80
24 Canucks 15.71
25 Bruins 15.65
26 Sharks 15.60
27 Avalanche 15.41
28 Islanders 14.84
29 Coyotes 14.53
30 Kings 14.08
The numbers are intended to estimate how many points you would get from a point-per-game (ppg) player over that time period. You can pro-rate it for a 0.5 point-per-game player by multipling by 0.5.
This might not be clear so post some questions up here if you want me to explain it more.
Interesting use of your tool - 6 weeks is a considerable chunk of time - I can see this also being used to look at secondary player trades to gain some advantage.
I am going to print this out and tape it to my monitor and watch things unfold. Perhaps make a strategic move or two based on it.
Kudos Reveeta.
