Tony DeAngelo
What are your thoughts on Tony DeAngelo?
Since his great year in 2019-20 for NY, he hasn't been amazing points wise, but he had 32 pts in 34 games in the KHL this year.
Is he worth picking up?

If you have space for a speculative add, sure.
Maybe he'll help get the Isle's PP going and average like a third to a half point per game or something from now through the end of the season.
Or he could get in the dog house quickly and flip flop between being active with very very sheltered minutes and being a healthy scratch (or waived), in which case you throw you back on the scrap heap.
Just set expectations accordingly. I highly doubt he's a league winner.

I think the islanders are going to give him every chance to succeed while Dobson is out, with the hopes they can trade him at the deadline.
Ive read a few articles on his time in the KHL. From what I’ve read, a good chunk of his compensation was performance based. So he would do everything he could to score, which ultimately led to very poor overall play. I wouldn't put too much emphasis on his KHL numbers.

My hopes are not high for him.

As usual i expect him to be very good for a short while and then it will go up in flames. But imo he is worth an add for short period of time, hopefully till end of this season.
As for his first game, looks like they 4 men the D core after Pulock got hurt 15 seconds into his game....George had 16 minutes while other 4 had 24 plus.

The Islanders are desperate, so maybe they give DeAngelo a little more leeway, but the guy rapidly wears out his welcome everywhere he's been in both the NHL and KHL. There's no reason not to grab him if you have the room, but as soon as he the healthy scratches start, it's time to move on.
