LOL everyone talking about shutdown D like there the lynch pin to a successful team. Like being hymned in your own zone is a good thing. Look at stats like goal differential when on the ice or corsi%, the fact of the matter is if you as a defencemen tilt the ice, you are a shutdown defencemen because the other team can't score when they don't have the puck.
    12 Team Keep 5 (2 F, 1 D, 1 G, 1 Any) G,A,PTS,PPP,SOG,HITS,PIMS,W,GAA and Sv%.

    F: Kucherov, J. Hughes,, J.Guentzel, K.Connor, N.Suzuki, J.Kyrou, T.Terry,
    D: Q. Hughes,, Z.Werenski, S.Jones, E.Karlsson, M.Rielly, T.Chabot

So what you're saying is if a team is built with nothing but Evan Bouchard's or Cake Makar's on defense, they should be unstoppable.

all things being equal with the rest of the teams, my money is on the team with 6 Cale Makars. You know he's talented enough to do whatever task is necessary to win games.

While we’re in the land of hypotheticals… 5 Makars would beat 5 McJesuses

I don't think it would even be close

I'd like the NHL to establish an award for "old fart who likes the NHL who posts on a fantasy hockey board who has some knowledge, but not as much as others, and takes a self-deprecating tone in making posts using long runon sentences within quotation marks." Just to have an award for every single aspect of the NHL experience.

Buchard are you kidding me? His advanced stats look great because the forwards he plays with not the other way around. But 6 Makars absolutely, even 6 Hughes. The other team would never touch the puck.

If the point is that "scoring more than your opponent. In fact it is the only actual way to win." and this should lead to trophies - Art, Rocket, Hart, Lindsey - all tied to scoring in most ways, you've got to question how relevant the Selke is, which not necessarily is tied to scoring and in extension - winning. A defensive D award is as relevant as the Selke, which I like since highlights other more subtle aspects of the game.
You can never win by only preventing goals. And Barkov is a PPG+ player.

When was the last time a Selke winner had less than 60 points? Of course the Selke is tied to scoring.

If a team had 6 Cale Makar’s they would in the Stanley Cup against a team with 6 prime Marc Edward Vlasic’s. Yes, absolutely. Unquestionably.
