Default ROS would you make this trade? REP for all suggestions

    Hey all,

    PTS ONLY one year league

My team is in 5th place and I've been very much underperforming thanks to McDavid, Josi, Saros at the front of it all. Im am 70 pts behind first, but only 38 behind 2nd, and I am prepping for a second half that will get me in contention hopefully.

I've tried to tinker around and made the following moves in the past week

I gave Sam Reinhart for Jake Guentzel to improve my LW as there is more RW available FA on the wire when needed
I dropped Charlie Lindgren and picked up Frank Vatrano
I gave Roman Josi for JT Miller in the hopes he gets traded and picks it up. Josi has been very underwhelming this year

I have an offer on the table of my Kyrou and Hedman for his Wyatt Johnston and Dahlin. I am strongly considering it with a gamble on a strong second half of Johnston. I feel Hedman has been so so this year and Kyrou has been fine. It's the only players he wants for that deal. Would you accept this deal?

My team currently looks as follows and we start daily 4C, 4RW, 4LW, 6D, 2G

C: McDavid, Strome, Suzuki, Cooley, Rossi
LW: Guentzel, Kaprizov, McCann, Vatrano, Peterka, Bunting
RW: Kempe, Miller, Kyrou, Garland, Nichuskin, Lehkonen
D: Theodore, Seider, Dobson, L. Huhghes, Hedman
    G: Gustavsson, Thompson, Saros

When Kaprizov comes off IR I am planning to drop Lehkonen for him to make room.
I also would like to move McCann & Garland but there is zero interest in either

The first place team looks as follows for comparison

C: Hintz, Eriksson Ek, Scheifele, Horvat, Tavares
LW: Draisaitl, Petterson, Ehlers, Fiala, Protas
RW: Necas, Vilardi, Boldy, Zuccarello, T. Thompson
D: Makar, Fox, Harley, Pietrangelo, Morrissey
    G: Oettinger, Blackwood, Binnington, Sorokin

I feel my team is better than his team, but he's got lots of hot players from the start (Necas, the entire Winnipeg Jets, Tavares) which hopefully corrects itself over the second half.

So my question is would you accept the trade proposed above to make a push? I'm trying to find other players that may be due for a great 2nd half. Barzal is someone I am targeting but so far the owner has declined any offer I made.

Rep for anyone (if I can) that can help me with some suggestions on this team so I can get back in contention.

    Thank you

i think its sideways bet at best..i dont think it hurts or improves you tbh.

I dont see Johnston suddenly becoming so much better that he outperforms Kyrou in points only leagues and Hedman and Dahlin will probably finish close to same points as well...again, im ok making it and im ok not making it. I dont think it will make any difference for you either way for ROS

Honestly I'm in the same boat as you. I feel its lateral. However, I also feel standing pat is just coasting to 5th place by years end. I don't know what to do to improve this team. Other than Saros starting to play like his contract worth and McDavid actually putting some 6 pt games behind his name lol.

Sometimes staying pat is better than making trades....this trade does not help you or hurt you, what you need is guys that are your core need to produce at their carrier rate , if they dont get closer to their respective normals not much other will help you. It is what it is but trying to do too much may hurt you.

TBH i dont like the Reihart for Guentzel swap at all and im not a fan for Lindgren for Vatrano either. I would just give it time, you cant revamp whole roster and get better unless other GMs in yoru league have not clue and based on those offers you shared they are good GMs.

yeah that's fair. Maybe I need to step off the ledge. I feel like I'm getting frustrated so justify making moves and killing my team in the process.

If by game 60 McDavid isn't making me happy with his performance I may trade him for the stretch run in a 2 for 1 type of scenario. I send McD and I get 2 solid players back (hopefully).

    I'm just so fed up.

I think I lean slightly toward the Dahlin side because it seems there's more a chance of the Dahlin/Johnston side "turning on the switch" and performing at a higher rate. I think with Kyrou and Hedman, you can't really expect a higher level of production rest of season.

Yup thats correct but atm Hedman and Kyrou are quite a bit better so they would need to drop the production for this trade to be beneficial...thats why it feels to me like sideways at best. If this was any type of keeper this would be easy decision towards Dahlin side.

You're right. Seems like there's no clear winner or loser here.

I think you could prioritize other moves before this trade, possibly through the waiver wire.

Josi being in a points only league is much better than in a category league where his other stats are tanking him hard.

Nichushkin latest news is he's still quite a bit away. So along with him, McCann (who is ice cold), and Vatrano who is more of a multi-category performer. If you're lucky, you might be able to trade some of them on name value.
