Default Owners that don't set their lineup- roto

Just curious how you handle this in your leagues. I am in a roto league (roto is best by the way!) and we have had owners over the years who routinely fall behind the games played limit which ultimately affects seasonal stat standings. We contact the owner but that doesn't always work. We have replaced owners in the offseason but that doesn't fix the problem during the season. Do you actively set their lineup every day? Do you make big adjustments only (IR swaps)? I know a rule needs to be established since there can be a conflict of interest. So how say you?

This is a hard thing to follow up on as it just means more work for the commissioner. I would just replace the people who fall off the wagon. Nothing else I can do.

How many dedicated owners do you have? maybe contract the league size?

that reminds me that i need a good roto league next year.

all I can say as a commissioner of a 12-team league in the states with a collective of owners in their mid-30's is that it's an accomplishment just to have a league of this size here in the US of A for as long as we have and taco teams are just gonna happen haha.

We're not roto but our league leadership typically solicits replacement GMs to replace owners that can't (or wont) make the minimal effort required to improve their teams or compete each week. The replacements are made co-GMs with the slacker for remainder of that season and then own the team going forward if they showed some effort. We also allow/encourage owners to add a co-manager or two of their choice at any time. Most of our owners (me included) got our initial taste of the league when friends/family invited us to co-manage with the ultimate intent being to get our own teams someday.

It all seems to work. I've been in it the last 18 seasons but our league dates back into the 1980s. Can't thank our leadership enough for all the work they put into it.

I'm no veteran i roto leagues, but I don't see how or why anyone should govern other managers lineups during the season. I agree it's an issue if they've fallen behind in games played by the season's end, but during the season..? I see viable tactics in falling behind or accumulating too many games in various spots. Tough to say what's what during a season.

sorry that's a reference from The League on FX years back. One of the owners nickname was Taco and he would never set his roster.

Inactivity sucks but you have to leave the team alone. You don't want any questions on conflicts of interest, questionable decisions, additional manual work etc.

It's not easy but the only way to resolve this is to have more active managers that you trust.

FWIW we have a co-commish who is currently setting LU for one of our owners. Guy comes in at the beginning of the season and does alright, then tails off to oblivion about now. been that way for a couple seasons now and its frustrating forsure, but he pays and is active to start...

I think I do have a team this year in one of the Dobber Roto Leagues, that has not been active.
If you want to replace them for the remainder of year just to get a feel of the league - I can get you in!
