    Other factors:

Previous management - leaky as hell but at least fans had the answers they wanted.
This management - tight as a drum so we are left to speculate.

11.6 can use the knee injury as an excuse, which very much covers up that he was essentially forced into signing that contract which also occurred just after the ASG last year.

Excellent article. Well thought out and explained. Only time with tell.
To quote Elliotte Friedman “the Canucks will do one of three things, 1 trade one of JT or Peety, 2 trade them both, 3 do nothing”.

"New Jersey is very interested [in Miller]". Young high prospect D the potential return, plus add? Something's got to happen.

Nemec isn’t close to enough of a return for Miller to make this a good trade for Vancouver. But, if the situation has indeed gotten so bad between EP and JT, and Miller has a NMC, they’ll need to take what they can get from a team Miller would be willing to go to.

If Miller or Pettersson get traded, I expect it to be for an underwhelming return and something that will disappoint a lot of Canucks fans.

I agree. But if, as the prior post suggests, the return would be a high-end prospect D +, I'm wondering if that prospect D-man would be Nemec given that the seems to be a surplus of his type in NJ. Maybe Silayev?

For NJ and JT Miller owners, I’ve gotta think this would be huge. I imagine his line would either be Miller/Hughes/Bratt or Miller/Hughes/Meier. I think he would thrive with that surrounding cast.

Who do you think comes back to Vancouver? Nemec and a pick or two?

New Jersey can’t afford Miller without a decent salary going back. What about Miller for Meier?

I can't imagine NJ moving Nemec for Miller. Miller turns 32 in a couple months and do you really want that potential headcase in your room? I understand the allure of Miller but I think NJ would be better off trying to get ROR for something around Casey. NJ just needs to stay the course with Nemec replacing Kovacevic next season him. Plus, an injury on the blueline is probably due considering NJ's health on the blueline so far this season. NJ is going to need Nemec on his ELC for 1 more season and then probably a bridge.

If I’m the NJ owner, I am in win now mode. I would do something like:
Nemec + Palat + 2nd for JT Miller

I could also see something like Nemec + Mercer + 2nd for JT Miller (with some salary retained by Van to make cap work)

If I’m NJ, I would jump all over either of those deals. If I’m Vancouver, that is a great return considering Miller has a NMC and their options are limited.

But, there is a reason I am a fantasy GM and not an NHL GM

i did not check but does NJ not own a 1st rounder? I would assume that would need to be involved ...

i dont know why you say that...they are one more season of similar treatment removed form Nemec asking for a trade. They absolutely should do that. They have a chance to win the cup this year so you easily do it and Miller can help at high level for few more seasons. Im im Vancouver that is not enough for me but given the situation they may not get better offer. TBH im surprised this is being discussed since it was rumoured he would only go to NY..maybe close enough and teams are going different directions..

It seems to me that for these obvious matches, the actual return is always less. Even with Nemec's dissatisfaction, I think you're more likely to see a Seamus Casey being sent as opposed to a Nemec.

If there's not a spot for Nemec next season, I agree that he'll probably ask for a trade. I suspect the plan this offseason was that Kovacevic would be a depth D but he has played so well that it's keeping Nemec in the AHL. And I absolutely disagree that they should make the move for the reasons I already mentioned. LOL
