i was never wondering why he would not waive for Carolina...i simply asked the question "Didnt Miller made this clear that he will only wave to NY?" .... you started the argument by sarcastic response "Miller might want to win"....and now you blaming me for looking for arguments? lol

According to Friedman tonight, the Hurricanes almost acquired Pettersson. Says Sabres are still very interested. So I guess the Nucks are shopping both at the same time still? I wonder if they would move both, or just the one that gets them the most back?

Can’t recall where I read (probably here somewhere) that Carolina was interested in Pettersson for Necas but not Miller for Necas.

i usually don't buy into those rumors until things happen as there is lots of BS out there. However, whats going on in CBJ is quite amazing considering their offseason. This could potentially be a great boost for that team as long as they don't need to move too many pieces out.

I wonder who would be the piece(s) going the other way if Pettersson went to CBJ. Provorov? KJ?

Around five weeks until the trade deadline. 10 games for Vancouver. I wonder if they'll go with this, or if they trade EP too before the deadline. Should be interesting to see how they do the next few games.

I would be shocked if they trade EP. There is a scenario where this works out well for Vancouver. If Miller's departure allows EP to get back to his superstar game AND Chytil is a healthy, competent 2C AND Pettersson helps solidify their blueline, they will be better than what they've shown this season. I know that's a lot of "ifs" but if they couldn't go forward with EP and Miller then this seems likes a reasonable alternative.

Yep no chance they're trading him now.

If they can resign Pettersson #3 I don't mind the deal.

I agree. It's the most likely scenario and what I thought would happen. It's just that the Rutherford interview made things look like a complete shitshow, and if they don't turn it around over the next few games and issues continue to linger... They already explored options and from what it sounds, were fairly close to trading Pettersson.

Nothing is forcing their hands now after the Miller trade, and with the salary cap going up over the next few years - they wouldn't trade Pettersson at the same disadvantage they would have just a week ago. If things still are sour and they have a good trade option with Buffalo ready to give them a clean locker room slate, I think there's a decent chance they'd do it. Still the off chance and maybe it would involve another player than Pettersson.
Playing Detroit next. Wouldn't mind Pettersson in Detroit, but I don't see what they'd give up.

Do people think Pettersson will bounce back with a weaker supporting cast? They may have cleared cap space by moving Miller, but they are not a better team today than they were two days ago.

on paper they are not, not close. He was a horse for them. However if this issue between the 2 was actually affecting play on ice as they claim, this subtraction could help, at least in short term.

I don't have an opinion as to what I think will happen but isn't it possible that Pettersson will bounce back since Miller isn't there? Doesn't that have to be the hope if you're a Vancouver fan? None of us know the dynamics of the room with Miller and Pettersson and how bad it really was.

    That's the mystery I guess.

This is nothing short of a complete and abject failure by Vancouver to properly manage assets. Jesus this team is run by morons.
