Last month we focused on players who were exceeding expectations, so it only makes sense to do a 180 for this month's poll and shine a spotlight on those who've disappointed thus far. With that in mind, I've landed on 20 players - listed in alphabetical order - who are performing worse than was envisioned, to let you vote on whether they can "salvage" their season?
What would qualify as a salvaged season? Let's say a player is currently scoring at a 68 point pace, however, he was predicted, in the DobberHockey Fantasy Guide, to score at a 90 point pace. That is a 22 point pace difference, with the midpoint between the two being a 79 point pace. Thus, you should vote for any and all players who you believe will end the season with a point pace at or above their midpoint pace. In short, they don't have to climb all the way back to their predicated rate, but would need to improve a good bit to reach that midpoint.
I tried to pick players where it is plausible they can indeed reach their midpoint, but not a foregone conclusion. So if you don't see a player here, it's probably because he's either too close to his predicted pace or so far below that it wouldn't take much for him to reach his midpoint.
Lastly, this is all based on an 82 game scoring rate/pace, not actual point totals. So if you see a player's predicted scoring rate and wonder why it doesn't match the fantasy guide, it's because that player was not predicted to play in all 82 games, so I adjusted the predicted total to be prorated to 82 games.
Hopefully all this makes sense. If not, please feel free to post with any questions or requests for clarifications. Also, as usual, please post who you voted for and why, since that way we can get everyone's insight.
EDIT: Sorry for the title typo. Oops.

My votes went to fewer than I'd have expected, only:
Bouchard - I do think he's not as great as he was between the 2023 playoffs and 2024 playoffs, but he should be able to rise to his midpoint given his team and deployment
Hyman - He seems to be connecting the dots over the past few weeks, and notably carried his momentum through the holiday break, so he should be able to get to his midpoint
Meier - He ignited in Q4 last season, and I think he can do so again
Miller - I think he's too talented to stay at the level he's at now, even with the off ice issues of this season
Pastrnak - If he hadn't already shown he could score post-Bergeron then I'd be worried, but he did, so he should rise enough to reach his midpoint

Wow - a lot of players getting a good number of votes. Usually these polls are pretty lopsided, but not this time. Keep the votes coming!
