Canada is building a team like they think the US is better than them.

Usually when they do this, they lose.

Zayne Parekh and Carter Yakemchuk are simply better players than Allen, Akey, Bonk, Gibson, Mynio, Price. THey'd be better on the first pair and they'd be better on the third pair.

Did you finish your resume and send it in?

GM/coach/captain/goalie - you are probably better at everything right?

I am not going to lie, I don't think he could be any worse than the selection team or the coaching staff. They galaxy brained their way to another 5th place finish by trying to win every game 1-0 instead of 6-2. It almost seemed like Dave Cameron was going everything in his power to sabotage any chance Canada had of winning games. From sitting out his top offensive forwards, to cancelling all the practices/game day skates to continuing to give all the ice time to Cowan, to a horrible goalie interference challenge in the quarters, Cameron had the largest part to play in Canada's terrible tournament.

So are you disagreeing with him? Do you think their roster configuration was their best chance at winning the gold?

On paper, I think the team they sent was good enough to win gold but the players themselves couldn't get it done. They couldn't gel as a team and were too undisciplined. They took role players to actually kill penalties over higher skilled players because, you know, you have to kill penalties, and god knows this team killed a lot of them. Unfortunately they couldn't kill enough of them.

Hard to say that others wouldn't have had the same issues this team did because we truly don't know. It's not like the kids who were selected weren't high end players themselves. It will be interesting to see what they do next year as far as building the roster. Maybe just send the highest skill players and let them try and kill penalties instead of trying to overthink it.

The gel part, sure, I can see that being an argument. The coach doesn't take undisciplined penalties though, the players do. The players decide when to shoot and when to pass, or lack there of.

I think there was a lot of blame to go around for all parts. Management decisions, coaching decisions and player decisions. No one gets a free pass here for me.

I get your point. Coaches set the tone during camps, take a stupid penalty,,,you sit...

Yes I am disagreeing with being smarter than those that make the decisions and pick the team.

We computer warriors that sit at computer and have full time jobs could pick a fantastic team on paper.
But are any of us smarter than the guys that get to watch these players as their full time job.

Can any of us say for certain that a player drafted at #9 in 2024 draft is better than a player drafted #22 in 2023 draft?

the number 9 overall player was drafted higher yes. But the 2023 drafted has one more year of experience, one extra nhl rookie camp under their belt.

so really can any of us say without a doubt that the 2023 draftee should be there over a 2024 draftee?
there are lots of high picks that don’t turned out, we all know that - so we can’t just pick team Canada based on where they were drafted. Some high picks are drafted as long term projects as well. Too many variables for us to pick.

No - because our full time job does not revolve around studying these kids and their development.

So we can’t pretend to be experts and smarter than team Canada management team all we want. But we are just fooling ourselves if we actually believe we are smarter than them.

This is the funniest, saddest, and most desperate post I’ve ever read and ever will read on these forums lmao.

PH better never question, criticize, or even opine on a move made by a team ever again. He just said it. Not qualified to in any way. Mouth shut from now on bucco.
