The best single season point total ever.....to out of a job in the span on less than two years. Gadzooks.

But yeah, it's clear he'd lost the room. Still though, the reality is the Bs, at their current best, are closer to what we've seen so far this season than what they were in 2022-23, and I hope ownership realizes that, even though they probably don't.

Neely has been there for 14yrs
Sweeney has been there for 10yrs

At what point is it time just for a new group running the team? I'd think they're safe this season for sure (hard to fire a GM/Pres mid-season) but after 1 bad regular season do you let them go? Do they run the offseason then in 2026 they're gone?

Should be interesting if the current play continues.

I think Montgomery got this team to overachieve the past couple of years. When they had their record setting regular season, many were already starting to think they were gonna decline. Then last year they lost their top two centers and still were great in the regular season. And the front office didn't do him any favors by messing up the goalie situation, which was one of the main keys to their success the last two years. Swayman's holdout was almost definitely gonna impact his play early on, especially since he isn't used to this kind of workload. So all the cards were already against the Bruins this year. This isn't on the coach, at all. Whoever scoops him up is gonna be thrilled.

    GET WELL SOON, DOBBER.

I feel like Swayman is all kinds of messed up right now. The holdout, the pressure of being the guy combined with the added workload, and the need to show he deserves the big contract would be bad enough. On top of that, he's playing behind a team that hasn't been great defensively and has been bottom of the league offensively. He probably feels like he can't even afford to give up one goal and it seems like every time he lets one in he immediately spirals out of control gives up multiple goals in a short span of time. Before Montgomery got canned, I'd been feeling like Swayman needed an extended run in the press box or maybe even a stint in the AHL to get his head straight. But teams usually play better, at least for a bit, when a new coach comes in. I wonder if that will be enough for him to get his confidence back.

Sweeney can't fire himself so this is all he had left to do. The roster is a mess. They spent so much money on 2 pretty useless players this summer. Hard to win games with no top 2 centers. Having their only NHL goalie miss all of training camp didn't help either. Roster is a complete mess so a new coach likely won't help much long term unless he figures out how to make 30 year old 3rd line centers perform like #1s. Expect a small dead cat bounce though to start.

Allegedly Joe Sacco is going to get some time to see what he can do.

Considering he was going into this season on the last year of his contract made this decision a little easier I am sure for Bruins management.

I was reading yesterday that he's bilingual and could potentially be a good fit in Montreal. We'll see. I dont expect him to be out of work for long but he's still paid this year so he can be patient.

Perhaps. Taking into account that this team is run by morons maybe not so surprising.

Morons? Neely has been there since 2010, Sweeney since 2015.

3 Stanley Cup final appearances since 2011.
    1 Stanley Cup win
    Only missed playoffs twice
Best regular season of all time.

    Yeah... morons.

Not everyone can be as well run as les Canadiens I suppose

Of course, that being said, I don't agree with firing Monty...

Yes. Neely is meathead and Sweeny has managed to find his ass with two hands and a flashlight once. Most of his moves have been terrible.

They just fired the one dude who really polished that turd of a roster as long as he could. Monty made them look like geniuses and they canned him. Thats moronic.
