Not sure why he didnt go to 8 if he's going to 7. I thought he'd look for a 5 yr deal and set himself up for another big payday in his late 20s but so be it. Sources say Alexis Lafreniere’s contract extension with #NYR will come in at 7 years x $7.45 million = $52.15 million.
The price to get to the 8th year, and purchase one more year of UFA, would have ratcheted up the AAV further to a place Rangers couldn’t reach now.
