He gets drafted right around the average of the rankings lists that are out there. No one had him where Anaheim selected him. He was in the 8-15 range on most boards and I'm sure some people are reluctant to buy into the late rise as a sustainable production rate and are more inclined to try and make a value pick on him.Originally Posted by CoolandDeadly

He doesn't have a remarkable year of scoring. Nothing you can point to say that he is high end in putting points on the board. Anaheim clearly has a type with Verbeek, they want big guys. Most every forward in this draft after Celebrini were sub-6 feet and/or had a non-physical reputation. It was pretty much just Sennecke and Cayden Lindstrom for bigger guys until you get to the 2nd half of the first round. Anaheim, sticking with their player model, didn't want Lindstrom with is back issue. That left only one forward who fit their mold. A guy with no real scoring history, but was tall.

I think the splits were what caught most peoples attention actually.
2nd half: 43 in 35
Playoffs: 22 in 16
He also went from 5' 10" to 6' 2" in a year so he's being given some credit that despite the improvement he'll be even better once he's had time to mature and adjust.
