Maybe Luke Hughes?
What's the value of the ? to propose a trade including M Tkachuk for Draisaltl? Large gap / small gap? What type of player would be a fair offer to present to the GM owning Leon?

There is definitely a fair sized gap between them, I’d try one of your prospects. Hughes or Askarov and see what he says. May have to be Tkachuk and Robertson for Draisaitl to get him. That would be a lot to give up but I’m assuming it will take a lot to get him to move him, so depends on how bad you want him and what you’re willing to pay.
It's a limited keeper so I would be focusing on what do you think his team needs versus what he already has. If it's me with Draisaitl, unless you're upgrading one of my potential keepers with someone better, I am not interested.

Thanks guys. Appreciate the perspective. The other GM is a Panthers fan, so my angle was his interest in elite wing option from his favorite team + player / picks (the latter maybe being of more interest since that has more value in a limited keeper situation). He also has Rantanen, which is a more likely deal to be able to pull off. But I figure start by seeing if there's openness to moving Draisaitl, and if not, back down to not as big of a fish. Just don't want to piss him off with poor opening offer for Leon

I’m an oilers homer I traded Michkov,Barzal amd Suzuki to land Draisaitl but if this is the league in your signature keep Tkachuk he’s probably the most valuable player in a multicast league..he’ll hit 100 points again and huge peripherals…Drai is a superstar and deservedly so but I bet you’ll do better with Tkachuk. For the record I have Skinner and McDavid and needed to complete the trifecta which won me the Playoffs. But none of those guys were multicast studs Drai is better than them cat wise. Not so with Tkachuk.
Maybe it's just me, but this is most likely an exercise in futility that won't turn out well for you. Personally, I'm building around MT, I don't need or want Draisaitl and I'm sure as hell not sending other hugely valuable assets to gain how many pts ..... 20? Don't get reamed, seriously, just step away... fast. Trust me, the other guy has no intention of moving Draisaitl whatsoever unless he can screw you over big time, sorry, that's just the way it is .... or maybe your league is different than 99% of the others (:

After reading this I stepped back and looked closer at the numbers. I buy Dobber's Guide each year, so using his projections and my scoring, here's the total points in my league setup for the upcoming season:
Draisaitl - 424 pts
Tkachuk - 417 pts
That is way closer than I would have thought. Closing that gap isn't worth chasing. But, the concerns I have with Tkachuk are:
1. Does he get back to consistently being a 100 (NHL) point player? Or was last year a sign of a change in Florida's offensive style to use Tkachuk differently (maybe somewhat like how Roberston in Dallas likely won't crack 100 points consistently because of how they're spreading their offense around)? The gap between Leon and Matt gets meaningfully bigger if Tkachuk is a 85/90 point player.
2. He plays a rougher style game and his body will probably break down quicker. Do I try to swap him out now at the hight of his career for someone more consistent with potentially less upcoming wear and tear on their body (this is where possibly looking at a 1:1 for Rantanen came into my mind too).

That's a prediction for this upcoming season.
Are you able to go back and look at the past few seasons and compare? That's more the tail of the tape for me than a prediction.

Yes, here you go:
Tkachuk:
'23-'24: 379 points (88 NHL pts)
'22-'23: 465 points (109 NHL pts)
'21-'22: 435 points (104 NHL pts)
Draisaitl:
'23-'24: 416 points (106 NHL pts)
'22-'23: 503 points (128 NHL pts)
'21-'22: 457 points (111 NHL pts)
Rantanen
'23-'24: 446 points (104 NHL pts)
'22-'23: 464 points (105 NHL pts)
'21-'22: 411 points (92 NHL pts)
It looks like the biggest key is Tkachuk getting back to 100 points consistently. Only at that scoring is Tkachuk hanging with these two guys.

Honestly I can’t stand Matthew Tkachuk I think he’s a cocky foolish young player however I think he is hitting 100 points this year. The talent is there. And now he’s a cup champ (much to my chagrin lol) keep him
