Default ROOS LETS LOOSE POLL: First Time Point Per Gamers

It's that time of the summer when I like to run this poll, as what better than snagging a player before he makes the leap to point per game production for the first time. Care to guess how many did so last season? Just five. But it was 11 in 2023-24. What will the total be for 2024-25? That's for your votes to decide.

You can vote for as many or as few players as you want, with those who get your votes being players you believe will, in 2024-25, appear in at least half their teams' games and score at a point per game rate or better. So no, they don't have to score 82 points, that is unless they play all 82 games.

As usual, please post who you voted for and why in the thread, since hearing everyone's logic is arguably as important as seeing the vote totals.

I voted for more players than I thought I would...

    Bedard - I mean.......
Boeser - He was a point per gamer in the playoffs and is assured PP! time and a spot alongside JT Miller, which sounds like a recipe for success
Boldy - I'm not his hugest fan, but even I think his trajectory suggests this is the season he reaches the point per game mark
Dahlin - Yes there's a forward logjam in Buffalo, but Dahlin's spot is not in question, and he had 48 points in 40 games in 2023-24 before getting hurt, so the potential is there
Hischier - He's come close several times, but had 45 points in his last 41 games and found magic with Meier in Q4
Kempe - His scoring rate has increased five seasons in a row, so how can I bet against him inching upward enough in 2024-25 to become a point per gamer?
Meier - His magic with Hischier led to Meier tallying 24 points in his final 21 games, 15 of them goals, so he's ready to pop
Suzuki - He should've been a point per gamer by now if he had more talent around him, and now that the talent is there, pencil him in for hitting the threshold
Verhaeghe - He keeps getting better and this seems like the next logical step in his progression

I chickened out and played it safe, Bedard, Boldy and Hischier.

I honestly thought Bedard could be a unanimous choice; but as I write this, 2 of 13 voters didn't select him. Wow!

    I went with:

Bedard: It's not a matter of if but when and I think most of us would agree he's easily there already.
Boldy: I think the love on Boldy is exaggerated but even I believe he has a decent chance to hit PPG status this year.
Dahlin: I don't love picking a D-man but Dahlin is so good. I'm not sure he'll do it this year but it's definitely possible.
Hischier: I mean, he's basically done it twice (1 point shy in 22-23 and 4 points shy in 23-24). He's doing it this year for the rebounding Devils.
Jarvis: The Canes lost a lot of scoring and Jarvis is on a rising trajectory. Might be a season early but definitely possible.
Nichushkin: He's doing it unless he doesn't come back early enough to reach the GP threshold.
Suzuki: As a Habs fan, it's tough not to love this guy and his production has improved every single year in the league. This is the logical next step on an improving Habs offense.

I was one of them and it was an oversight - definitely voting for him breaking PPG.

Voted for Bedard and Dahlin only..i was close to vote for Hischer, Boldy and Jarvis but i did not.

Hischer probably closest of the 3 but i have big hopes that Hughes is finally healthy all season and if he is i think Hischer will loose out on some offensive plays and will miss PPG pace.
Boldy - i think he will be very close but will just miss it, just not enough supporting cast yet...
Jarvis - i personally have him at 80 points over 82 games but i think im being bit generous, so to me he just misses PPG pace.

    Bedard: Because Bedard.

Hischier and Suzuki: Because they seem to be two of those guys who improve slowly and steadily and likely have an improving cast around them too.

Meier: That's a swing because otherwise my guesses would be pretty boring. It's not just me rooting for the Swiss guy though: I think if he's healthy and if he has locked down his prime usage again (which seemed to be the case at the end of last season) there's a vety decent chance he gets there - also given the guys he gets to play with.

    on the list
    Bedard: almost certainly
Boldy: he's about that age to pop
Raymond: At the end of the year caught fire. 14 goals and 7 assists in his last 18 games
    Hischier
    Meier

The last 2 started popping off together at the end of last year. undeniable chemistry.

Not on the list who I think will have a chance.
    Wyatt Johnston

He was on fire at the end of the year with 17 goals and 15 assists in the last 28 games and Pavelski retiring opens a PP1 spot he can fight for.

Not a single vote for Dobson is surprising. Do folks realize he had 62 points after 60 games last season? Yes, I didn't vote for him, but I'm surprised that thus far he hasn't received a single vote.
