Agreed! That would be huge overpay to add a 2nd and Nemec is going to be super important as the more all-around big minutes dman next to Hughes.
Besides, goaltending is no longer a priority in New Jersey. They are set with Markstrom, who is signed for two more years, and still 34 so lots left in the tank, and Allen is an excellent back up with ample playoff experience including a ring. They can bring up Daws in a pinch in case of injury, and while he’s not highly touted as a goalie prospect, he still has starter potential. They have zero need for Askorov at this stage, and if they were to invest assets, my guess is it will be for a gritty playoff battle-tested forward at the trade deadline rather than a future goalie prospect (as good as Askarov is).
For Askarov, my money is on LA - but even then Trotz is not going to trade him to a western Conference team for pennies so I doubt that gets done anytime soon.

An Askarov owner with a puckered up Butt.
I think you'll be OK, I just threw that out for fun, however, if, like other Russians that we all know and love, if they feel like they are getting jerked around in the NHL heading back to the KHL is an entirely viable option for them. Highly unlikely, but ya never know (:

I doubt NJ wants to spend more assets on goaltending at the moment, and I think Askarov is pretty firm on wanting to be in the NHL. Even if 2 years seems like a pretty short timeline for us, that is an eternity for a player who is ready and has proven it now.
Colorado makes sense but I'm not sure they have the assets to do it.

Well I don't really know what Nashville wants. Do they want young pieces like for like or maybe more contributing pieces that can step right in the lineup now. Would LA do like Kaliyev and Jordan Spence? Two young players who can step in and help Nashville now? Would Nashville do that? Maybe not enough but I'm a big believer in both players.
If young assets, I'd think like an A-/B+ prospect and a first. Would Chicago do like Oliver Moore and Toronto's first? Would Toronto do like Nick Robertson and 2026 1? Something like that would be my guess. Maybe Nashville is looking for a prospect G and would do like Commesso and Toronto's 1 for Askarov?

No, I'm not confident he can. That's why I think Chicago and SJ make a lot more sense than NJ/Colorado. A goalie that can grow with a young team rather than needing to come in a win right away.
