    Default Laine to The Wild?

I'm inclined to think this is not a great fit but who knows.

Count me in the camp that still sees Carolina as the biggest chance for a win-win. He will have talent around him, and if he thrives great but if he doesn't it's not like the team will be put into a bad spot. They also can readily afford it.

There was an Athletic article this morning on the Wild possibility. Very difficult to see how the Wild can pull it off given cap issues and Waddell’s reluctance to retain dollars.

I think he’d fit just fine in Minny actually, they can use the scoring punch.

I think the Wild need to prioritize bolstering their center position. Getting a set up man for Kaprizov is way more important than onboarding a Laine-type winger, in my opinion.

Not sure I agree, since once they finally put JEE and Kaprizov together in the second half at ES Kaprizov went supernova, so that seems like it's no longer a problem.

And they have Danili Yurov coming soon that they’re high on as becoming a top 6 Cman.

I recently traded for him (Yurov) in a small Dynasty league. One of the prospects you can get for less as the hype has faded.

I don’t see Laine to the Wild as a good fit.

    Yurov is definitely a W not a C.

That’s what I thought based on prospects report but this Wild beat writer has another take here:

Yurov had played primarily wing until last season where he was often moved to centre. During Magnitogorsk's Garagin Cup run Yurov nearly always played 2nd line C. Gun to my head I'd guess he's a back on the wing when he joins the Wild but it could go either way at this point.

Line ups from all KHL games from last season can be found here https://www.flashscore.ca/team/metal...1rpaL/results/

The 2023-2024 season was a breakout year for Yurov. He led Metallurg in goals with 21 and points with 49 during the regular season, demonstrating his offensive abilities. His performance in the playoffs was equally impressive, as he scored six goals, contributing to his team’s third Gagarin Cup victory. This victory underscored Yurov’s growth as a player and his ability to perform under pressure. Moreover, he had a significant leap forward as Metallurg’s coach Andrei Razin moved him to the middle.

“The biggest problem for me was that I didn’t play center that often; sometimes I played on the wing, sometimes in the middle, so I had to adapt game by game. This made it a bit difficult for me to get used to the center position. But once our line stabilized, it became easy. The guys understood what I could do, and I started to understand what they could do. I covered for them, and they covered for me. We had good mutual understanding, and I hope we will play even more effectively next year.”

Yeah that’s good stuff. I was not aware that KHL lineups were posted online and I was not aware Yurov has been playing C. Once again the forum is awesome.
