Yeah I’d take that for sure.
Which side do you prefer in a deep 28 team league where we run full NHL sized rosters (12F, 6D, 2G) and we use NHL AAV and the NHL salary cap?
Noah Hanifin
OR
Sean Durzi (35% retained so AAV of $3,900,000) + Noah Ostlund + 3rd round pick
Categories include, G, A, +/-, hits, blocked shots, PP TOI/game, PK TOI/game, takeaways
My other dmen are Adam Larsson, Hampus Lindholm, Mackenzie Weegar, Jonas Brodin, Philip Broberg. The deal saves me $3,450,000 in cap space that I can use to make my forward group better.
Yeah I’d take that for sure.

i would look at it as Durzi + Cap hit for Hanifin...i may still take this but i would not count on Ostlund or that 3rd rounder to be anything ..

Durzi side by a decent margin. Hanifin has always been a better IRL player than fantasy with pretty low peripherals for a D. He'll be competing with a healthy Theodore for PP1 which I don't think he takes. Durzi has competition as well with Sergachev, but I'd rather take that gamble for 3.9M than 7.35M. Otherwise I see similar upsides so take the younger player as well. The prospect and pick are bonuses.

This is the way I am leaning. Ostlund and that 3rd have a very real chance of being fantasy hockey irrelevant. This is about saving cap by moving on from Hanifan and replacing him with Durzi. For the most part these guys put up similar peripherals. I'm going by the Guide here for the sake of discussion and Dobber has Hanifan at 53 pts and Durzi at 44. So, there ya go, giving up 9 pts to save 3.45 in CAP is not too bad. Here is the thing though, the numbers could look different one way or the other if the Durzi/Sergachev battle and the Hanifin/Theordore battle goes differently than anticipated and IMO, there is a chance that that happens.l

The Durzi owner backed out saying he's too many pieces short of being competitive so acquiring Hanifin made no sense to him.
I pivoted and end up acquiring Nikolaj Ehlers (50% retained) + Kaiden Guhle + Jordan Harris for my Noah Hanifin. It's a different deal but it plugs my hole at 3rd line RW while giving me 2 decent 3rd pair dmen who are still young enough to improve. I also still gain over $3M in cap space.
Great move. I like that one even better.
