I normally dont give Shatkins much credit (for obvious reasons) but I like the return for Kikuchi. They did well on that one. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Yupppp pretty much unanimous win for the Jays. Makes me wonder what Houston knows that we don't...

Kikuchi was really the last non-top arm available that is very versatile. He had like 3-5 teams wanting him driving the price up.

The best part about Kikuchi is he is a lefty starter that can shift to the BP and still be a big arm. If you aren't getting a top 3 arm, you're getting a SP that will have like 3-4 starts then do nothing for the playoffs really. Kikuchi isn't that.

However, the return is still really good for the Jays. And considering Kikuchi and his family (especially his son) love Toronto, there's a high chance he returns in the offseason, it makes it even better.

SP FA market isn't any better than Bassit, and if you're moving him you're looking to replace him somehow.

The front office knows where they stand this yr, they might be instructed to not move guys who are under team control from 2025 and onwards because they aren't going to be managers then.
