Default Farrell (No not that one)

He may not be an Anchorman but he’s still a darn good prospect. What does everyone thinnnkf Sean Farrell I mean he had a pretty successful transition to the AHL this year but he has to be a top 6 guy or he isnt playing. What do you all see for projections…points ceiling, timeline etc. I think Farrell will get a few games in the NHL this year but I think they’ll give him another year in the AHL. If he can really bust out the sky is the limit for this kid I think he could be a 60-70+ point guy. But he’s risky because if he doesn’t hit he’s not an NHLer. What is the consensus on Son of Anchorman?? And remember Milk is a bad choice.

For a later round (4th) pick, he's done well in his trajectory. I think he's still at least another year out from seeing much NHL action unless injuries happen and he gets a look. I am not sure he's a top six guy in Montreal due to their depth up front, which really hurts his chances and he's not really built for a bottom six role. If he stays in the Montreal organization, I am not optimistic. I own him in a couple keeper leagues and have been following his career today so I am hoping for the best but I am also realistic enough to look at the numbers and see that the opportunities in Montreal are getting thinner every year for a guy like Farrell.

While smaller players like Farrell can and obviously have had success in the NHL the one thing that the majority of successful ones had was above average skating, quickness and exceptional hockey sense and a motor that never stops. Their tool box, despite their size is huge. From what I can gather, and maybe I'm wrong, Farrell has the motor for sure, but has the skating; hockey IQ; the tool box as it were, is not in line with that of a top prospect, but more in line with a guy drafted in the 4th round. His year in Laval was OK, but again, it didn't scream top prospect, most AHL rookies who are legit top six NHL prospects often flirt with PPG production in the A. Not .5. I absolutely agree, Farrell has to play top six or he doesn't play and I'm just not betting on him being able to do that. We'll see, but he's a big time long shot IMO.

I do agree with you both on this. He’s definitely a long shot. I acquired him while getting Gaudreau as I depleted my FWD depth this year and the swap back was Mesar. I am not a Mesar fan. I was going to drop him. I mean he was playing with men in the Czech league and doing well and then comes and puts up a measily ppg pace in the CHL I mean in the words of a Canadian superstar “That don’t impress me much”. I think Farrell has always been a high upside boom or bust and while his AHL season wasn’t legendary I think he translated his game fairly well all things considered. This season most likely will determine if he’s a Gerald Mayhew (super talented AHL lifer) or he has a legit shot at a top 6 spot. I agree it doesn’t look good for him in MTL but the cream always rises to the top and he’s gonna have to work twice as hard to get there as any other hand prospect. It’s a long shot. Thanks for the input guys.
