Nashville is incredible at defensive development and drafting and I think this kid is a safe bet to at the very least put up 35-40 a year with a very real potential for more.

    Great post here ^^^

Im always glad to get feedback from guys that have scouted these guys directly and Im stoked were on the same page here...

This is exactly what I was going to say. I've been keeping an eye on Molendyk for a while now and the eye test does pass for me. Totally reasonable and needed commentary from Penquin but I've been suprirsed that Molendyk is rarely ever talked about. I think he has the tool kit to be solid.

I think a lot of people are hung up on his initial label of defensive D-man and Nashville doesn’t get talked about as much as other markets. For one they really have nobody in his way to become PP1 (other than Josi but he’s starting to age and will be a great mentor) also Nashville is legendary for drafting and developing defencemen. He’s an underrated prospect in my opinion and I think a lot of people will kick themselves for not grabbing him while they can.

Absolutely agree- tracking the OBVIOUS star trajectories is easy- but there might be something here every bit as valuable that doesn't come with a massive early draft pick valuation.

In his draft year he had TWO offensive Dmen ahead of him on the depth chart gobbling up all that precious pp time. Most scouts said he had a ridiculous toolset and they sort of needed one more year where he was "the guy" to get a real read on him... they got that and he busted out like a maniac. This is a typical Nashville pick that gets underrated but the psychic/witch they pay for this intel gets an extra clutch of chickens...

This might very well be your Josi replacement and in an actual fitting twist he wasn't an obvious early pick. Not a guarantee at this point but ignore at your own risk....
    Weekly hth league- 2c, 3w,1 ff (forward only flex), 4d, 1g, and one true flex. Sog/goal weighted for skaters: G4, A3, Sog1, PPP+1. +/- adds/minuses one for F/3 for D. Workhorse starters = GOLD!

We are a full dynasty keeper BUT we only protect 8 (9 if you miss playoffs)- which means that you can lose ONE player outside that range each year to the steal round.
C- Hughes(J), Crosby, McMichael, Buchnevich (C/W), Carlsson (Frm), Wright (Frm)
W- Marchand, Lafreniere, Zetterlund, Michkov, Stankoven, Slafzilla, Tolvanen
D- Werenski, Clarke, Carlsson, Orlov, Hughes (L)
G- Swayman, Sorokin, Kuemper, Fedotov, Nabokov (Frm)

Exactly! 100% agree. It’s far from a lock but I think ignoring this kid now will not look good in 3 years. I mean if you can afford a roster spot stash him. Could be a huge payoff.
